Read It Later is an app that lets you that lets you browse the web offline by saving webpage to a reading list to read later. Read It Later Pro has been available for quite some time in the Android market at $ 2.99, but the newly released free version with limited features is likely to see more downloads.
If you are a new user, you need to create an account (with a username and password) to get started.
Once the app is installed, a button will be installed on your Android web browser. Tap the Menu button on your device, tap More, the select Share page, and then choose Add to Read It Later to bookmark a page.
Applications such as Twitter, RSS Reader and others have the Read It Later button built in the applications, so syncing popular news and social media updates is easier than ever. This means that you have easy access to your Reading List no matter where you are or where you have saved the articles or web pages. For instance, you can save a web page to your reading list on your office PC and access it later on your Android device, or save a page to your reading list on your mobile device and read it later on your PC. The app also records where you left off previously, so, irrespective of the device, you can pick up from where you left off earlier.
You can display the articles saved in the full webpage view, as you would see in your browser, or you can choose to view the pages in the Article View, which displays just the article, which provides a cleaner reading experience. You can let the app auto-pick the best downloadable or you can customize the app to download content in a specific view. Additionally, you can also adjust the text size, font, and alignment.
Other features include the ability to categorize pages you’ve saved using tags, which act like folders, mark items as read, share, edit, and re-download articles using options in the Quick action menu, which can be activated by holding any item.
And don’t forget, you can read saved pages in an offline mode, without an internet connection.
Read it Later (Free) is good but lacks features that are exclusive to the Pro version such as:
- Viewing an entire list
- Searching a list
- Sorting a list
- View all open/unfinished articles
- Rotation lock
- Volume Rocker Scrolling
If you’re happy with the free version, you can download it in the Android App market.
Have you installed and used the Read it Later App? What do you think of it?

Hi Eddie,
This sure is a cool app! Too bad I don’t have my very own Android phone yet. I love browsing the web, but I tend to prefer reading all of them at a later time.
Thanks!
Hey Johanna, i would say that you must get yourself an android. Android devices are the best i jut love using my Motorola Defy which is Android 2.1 but have installed a mod which has pushed the software version to Android 2.2 aka Froyo.
Hope you get yourself an android soon.

Press and hold the home button. You will see the six last active applications for you to easily switch back to. Can be handy if you have to go through to another home screen just to go back to what you were doing before.
