How often have you installed a program or a device on your computer only to find out that your computer is not working as it should. You may then be forced to undo the recent change you made, but there may be times when uninstalling a device or driver simply doesn’t fix the problem and you are forced to restore your computer to an earlier time when everything worked correctly. Unfortunately, this process means you may end up losing recent changes made to your personal files. To prevent such a mishap from happening, it is judicious to create a system restore point before installing a program or a device on your PC. In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a restore point in Windows 7.
What is System Restore?
System Restore is a process which allows you to undo changes made to your computer without affecting your personal files such as documents, photos and recent downloads. System Restore returns your computer to an earlier point in time when all your programs were working correctly. By default, your PC automatically creates system restore points, but you can also create them manually.
How to Create a Restore Point in Windows 7
1. Click the Start orb and in the Search text box, type restore point.
2. Click Create a restore point.
3. The System Properties dialog box is displayed. On the System Protection tab, click Create.
4. In the System Protection dialog box, in the Create a restore point text box, enter a name to the restore point and click Create.
It will take a few moments for the system to create a restore point. When you see the message box confirming the creation, click Close, then click OK and then go ahead and make the required changes.
