Sources from ReadWriteWeb have revealed that Facebook has released the official Facebook Best Practice Guide on best marketing practices to help businesses make the best use of the social platform for its marketing needs and to use Facebook as a marketing tool effectively. The short 14-page ebook titled “ Best Practice Guide: Marketing on Facebook” lists five guiding principles, best practices for achieving business goals, and a long list of useful resources for your guidance.

The ebook lists out how various companies such as addidas, Levis, Sephora, and others have achieved their business goals using Facebook and is a must-read for anyone looking to establish and strengthen their Facebook presence.
My favorite example was M&Ms which reads “In the Spring of 2010, Mars Chocolate North America launched M&M’S Pretzel. Mars used Facebook to seed awareness and demand for the new product by developing a custom Facebook application called the M&M’s Pretzel Vending Machine. The application enabled 40,000 of the brands fans to get a free sample delivered to them and allowed them to invite two friends to also receive a free sample. As a result, Mars distributed 120,000 samples to its customers within 48 hours.”
