Web Browsers: How to Pin Multiple Websites to the Taskbar in IE9

3 Flares 3 Flares ×

Internet Explorer 9 has been released with a number of new features that help simplify the browsing experience. One such feature is the ability to pin multiple websites to the task bar. In this Internet Explorer 9 tutorial, you will learn how to pin multiple websites to the taskbar so that you can access them in a jiffy.

How to Pin Multiple Websites to the Taskbar in IE9

1. Open the web page you want to pin to the taskbar.

2. Drag the icon within the address bar to the task bar to pin the page to the task bar.

3. Open the additional sites that you want to pin in the tabbed windows within the same browser.

4. Right-click the favicon next to the Back and Forward buttons and select Add as a home page.

The next time you open the pinned window, the pages that you set as the home page will open up.

This feature helps you open up your most favorited pages in just a mouse click and is something yet to be made available in other browsers. Firefox did have a feature that allowed you to save tabbed windows before closing, but apparently does not work in its latest release FFX 4. Sadly the limitation with this feature in IE9 is that it works only on browsers installed on Windows 7. So if you do have IE on Windows 7, be sure to use it to get the maximum potential out of IE 9’s new features.

    Hi Eddie,

its been a while since I was here. I’ve been busy lately. I am back and wanted to say that this post is awesome. I primarily use IE and this tip is awesome now with Win7 and IE I will be able to do work much quicker.

This simply doesn’t work for me. I drag the icon but cannot pin it anywhere. Very frustrated with IE 9.

    • Hi Micheal,

I’m not sure why you’re having trouble pinning the favicon to the taskbar. Just drag and drop in taskbar. That’s it.
