Following up with the announcement of the Windows 8 Customer Preview, the Windows team has been busy making available the Windows 8 panoramic theme for download. The beauty of panoramic themes is that they can extend a single image across dual monitors. However, there are two factors that you need to consider before downloading the Windows 8 panoramic themes. These themes will only work in Windows 8 Consumer Preview or in Windows Developer Preview. They will not work on Windows 7 PCs. Secondly, both monitors need to have the same resolution and settings. If the monitor displays are of different sizes or have different resolutions, then different images will appear on each monitor.
Windows 8 Panoramic Theme : Nightfall and Starlight
The Windows 8 panoramic theme is called Nightfall and Starlight and doesn’t just extend across your dual monitor, it also seamlessly changes your Window color to match each image displayed. Nightfall and Starlight depicts distant galaxies, green meadows, precipitous mountains, and calm seas.
If you don’t work with dual monitors, no worries. You can use these themes even on a single monitor. The images will simply get cropped down to the center before getting displayed.
Remember once again that while Windows 7 themes will work on Windows 8, the reverse is not true. Windows 8 themes will not work on Windows 7 PCs.
