As the smartphone and tablet are becoming more and more capable, people are seeking more features from the tech gadgets to help them to do more besides the basic function like making calls or watching videos. With a wide range of apps, people make the cellphone and tablet their must-have device in daily life. Now, no surprisingly, many office staff use their tech gadgets as an important office assistant. Of course, if you want to finish your job with more efficiency, you need some killer-apps. Here are some outstanding mobile office apps you will find handy.
Outstanding Mobile Office Apps for your Smart Device
Quick Office
This is the star app in mobile office area, if you always handle office documents with mobile device you won’t be a stranger to it. The history of this app can be dated back to the time Symbian (R.I.P Symbian) dominated the mobile world.
With this app, you can easily view and edit Word, Excel, PowerPoint files, and when you receive a document in an email’s attachment, you can also open it with this app.
For iOS users, the most primary obstacle for this kind of app is the sync problem. Quick Office provides you WiFi sync feature and you can transfer an office file from your computer to your device when they are in the same LAN.
The company which develops this app had been purchased by Google in June 2012, therefore, now it is branded as Google.
Either you use iOS or Android, you can find it in app store, and it will charge you about $15.
Documents To Go
Another mobile app on both iOS and Android, you can use it to view and edit files generated by Word, Excel and PowerPoint, it can also open PDF files. The edit function is pretty handy and powerful, you can breezily edit your office files on your cellphone with Document To Go.
This app also support WiFi sync, but you need to install the suit program on your computer, which will be a bit more complex than Quick Office. And it also provides the cloud sync function, at the moment it has integrated Google Drive, Box.net, Dropbox, iDisk, and Public iDisk. If you have files stored in these cloud storages, you can edit and sync it with Document To Go. This feature will help you a lot when you need to modify some files urgently and this file has been already uploaded to your cloud storage.
GoodReader
GoodReader almost supports all the popular file formats like Office documents, PDF, TXT, HTML, image, audio and video. It even supports bookmark adding and landscape mode, and as expected, it enables you to sync with WiFi and some cloud storage service like Dropbox and Google Drive, what’s more, with FTP Server.
The most powerful feature of this app is not to view or edit a file, but to manage them. Thanks to this app, we can process the files saved on our mobile device just like operating on a Windows computer if I can use that phrase. It provides these features: Encrypting a file or a folder, create new folder, copy, paste, cut, delete, etc. Except the app store, you can use it to replace the most of iTunes function.
And notice, this app is only available on iOS, and it costs you $4.99.
Kingsoft Office (WPS)
This is a free app on Android and developed by a Chinese company called Kingsoft. It is no doubt the best free mobile office app in Android. It enables you view and edit office files, supports doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, and other 26 formats.
You can also directly use this app to edit your cloud files which saved in Dropbox and Google Drive, no matter you are on a cellphone or a tablet, this app will auto adjust to suit your screen perfectly.
The app will archive your mobile files into groups and you can send the file via email within one click. All in all, it is a nearly-perfect mobile office app and it is free of charge, the pity is they don’t provide an iOS version.
There are other 2 must-have mobile office apps, iWork for iOS and Google Doc for Android. I think there is no need for me to introduce these two “official” apps here.
