Easy to play and hard to win is the underlying tone of a new music-backed gaming app from Hadi Pintaro. Amazing Beat takes music that moves and pulses a beat along which you must follow and react quickly to. Sound easy? Think again. This game takes what seems like child’s play and throws in the challenge of speed.
Amazing Beat App Review
Amazing Beat is a music game that allows players to choose from five different types of music choices. As the music plays, the game launches shapes, either blue squares or red circles, from the top of the playing screen. They appear with every beat. Once they appear, they keep in time with the music, moving as fast as they need to, allowing for the next beat, or shape, to appear and move. Once you see and hear a beat, it is your job to quickly tap either the left side of the screen for a blue square or the right side for a red circle. Tap too late and the shape will hit the floor. This means: game over.
When the game over screen appears, you get a score at the top. You also get to the see a par score. Below the scores are three buttons: replay, music and heart. The heart takes you to the app creator’s website where you can explore more of what they have to offer, make suggestions and provide feedback.
I initially found the game a bit intimidating, because there was not much explanation as to what needs to be done, and I am one for lots of detail. The game is great for those who love to experiment and learn by experience, though. They usually have no fear of failure. They can lose multiple times, and will come back for more.
If you enjoy playing this music game, and you like the concept, then sticking with it is key to achieving success. Practice makes better, is what I like to say. So, the more you play, the better at it you will get. Your sense of hearing and sight will coordinate quicker to enable your taps to come in time and capture each beat as it sounds.
Persistence is key. What would be nice is a bit more help and a longer tutorial or game session where the speed is not so fast. It is easy to be turned off by the rapidity of the beats the app puts forth and the extremely fast progression of speed. For newer players and those not so game savvy, it would be much more encouraging if the game increased its speed as players mastered and moved up in abilities. Maybe a few additional slower rounds would be helpful.
Beyond that, this game brings a new and refreshing simplicity to the gaming world, where otherwise we are battling demons, jumping over, around and under demons or obstacles, trying to save the world. It keeps your senses sharpened and brings fresh new sounds to gaming in a way that provides a new approach to individualized entertainment.
