If you work from home you know how hard it can be to stay on track if you’re having an off day. One solution would be to get out of the house and work somewhere else, but that isn’t always a viable option. I’ve found that using certain apps helps me refocus and get a hold of my productivity. Here are three of my favorite apps to stay productive everyday.
Apps to Stay Productive Everyday
1. iThoughtsHD
I love charts and data. There’s nothing like being able to tease out a bunch of good strategy and information from data, and it gets so much easier when I can visualize everything. Flow charts are obviously a big part of that landscape, and that’s exactly what iThoughsHD brings to the iPad (there’s also an iPhone version). If you need to brainstorm some ideas or look at a problem in a visual way, then this app is a great option. It has helped me refocus my thoughts and work on more occasions that I can count.

2. Evernote
If you aren’t using Evernote for all your note taking needs then you should be. You can do everything from write down ideas to clip relevant web pages and snippets with this app. The ways in which you can use this app are really only limited by your imagination. To top it all off, you can sync your notes between all your devices so you’ll never be without the information you need to keep your productivity up.
3. RescueTime
As the name suggests, this app will help you wrangle back some of your time so it can be used how you want it. You can do everything from set up a schedule to get notifications when you’re spending too much time on a project or other even less productive activities like surfing the web. The app will also track your time automatically, so you’ll know exactly how much time you spent on each activity or task. It’s extremely enlightening — and sometimes frightening — to see how much of your time is eaten up by various factors. As soon as you identify the problem areas you can address them and get some of your time back.

These apps will all help you stay focused while you’re working from home, or anywhere else for that matter. There’s no secret to productivity and with some diligence you’ll be impressed at how much time you can reclaim.

I’m quite afraid to try out of the third app RescueTime as I might find out the real amount of time I spend Internet surfing in a single day. Denial mode: ON. 😀
