June has been an eventful month for iOS gamers with a string of cool iOS games released throughout the month. We pick out some the games that we think you should be playing this weekend, and the next, if you have the time.
Cool iOS Games to Chill Out With This Weekend
Manuganu 2
One of my favorite game characters, Manuganu comes back to the iOS platform in a sequel that will have you running, swinging, and jumping over dangerous obstacles. While there is hardly anything new to talk about in Manuganu 2, apart from the options to fly and swim and iOS 7 controller support, the beautiful graphics, splendid environments, and a determined skull wearing kid is enough reason to indulge this one again. Price: $0.99.
Monty Python’s The Ministry of Silly Walks
If you’re tired of all those endless runners, how about an endless walk? This game features the incredibly popular and rather silly iconic figure Monty Python (with voice acting from none other than the talented Mr. John Cleese) who carries his handy umbrella and takes a walk down the long winding lanes of London. There are obstacles of course along the way such as pesky pigeons and crates of God-knows-what, but you’ll have your handy umbrella and crazy powerups to take you along. Expect plenty of silliness and realistic ragdoll physics to entertain you, all for the price of $0.99.
Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake
Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake is a funny, delightful adventure set in the island of Gogapoe has you playing Niko who is on a mission to find his birthday cake. There are cleverly crafted puzzles and friendly monsters who can tag along to help you complete quests. If you’re good enough, you can discover hidden paths and unlock extra levels and find all those missing pieces of cake that’s been taken away by dem monsters. Price: $4.99.
Storm Casters
Storm Casters is a must have game for anyone who loves dungeon crawlers. You start off your adventure when you find yourself escaping your burning village and staring at the entrance to an old forgotten dungeon. A strange entity will grant you the power of the Storm Caster and you must make use of your powers to defeat the mysterious forces that lie within the dungeon. There’s loot to collect, baddies to defeat, and rewards for completing your time bound missions successfully. Highly recommended for the price of $1.99.
Desert Fox: The Battle of El Alamein
This World War II strategy game is set in the oppressive heat of the North African desert where you embark on an ambitious campaign to capture the Suez canal. You can bring out all your desert war strategies to the fore by taking on online players from around the world and fighting for leaderboard glory. There’s lots of historical info thrown into the game as well, and anyone who loves a deeply engaging war game will find this one utterly satisfying. Price: $9.99.
PlunderNauts
Pirates are not just seafaring creatures, they even rise up to the stars. The legendary space pirate Ironbeard plundered countless galaxies and hoarded vast riches in some secret location. In PlunderNauts, you are a greedy pirate who is now on a journey across the universe in search of the famed treasures. Cool artwork, tons of customization options, crazy space warfare, and exciting action all make this a totally fun game to spend the weekend with. Price: Free
Arcane Ghosts
This is a 2D platformer inspired by games such as Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins and Castlevania. You play the hero Orestes who is seeking revenge on the evil Necromancer who has killed the Grecian king and his brothers. It is really hard to walk away from the challenge thrown by huge monsters and undead creatures and the lure of vast hordes of hidden treasures. You’ll explore lands, discover secret keys and items, acquire new abilities and fight some more to cleanse the darkness out of the lands. Price: $1.99.
