Many of us find ourselves always peeking at the latest gossip magazines to see which famous celebrities are lighting up the covers with their crazy antics. We know most of them by heart, zoning in on distinctive features that set them apart from Tom, Dick or Harry. Well, now you can test how well you know the face of those famous philanderers that make the entertainment scene and catch your interest. AppVillage has created a game called Fame Face that has you revealing bits of a celebrity’s face, while trying to guess who it is.
Fame Face App Review
The game is extremely simple and very easy when you first start. When you download Fame Face you will see there is some Help under “How to Play”. You really don’t need this, but if you’re the type who loves to read the instruction manual first, then go for it. Otherwise, hit “Play Now” and get the party started.
You’ll see a screen with an area covered in small tiles. Each tile you tap reveals part of a celebrity’s image. Below the square you’ll see how many tiles you can reveal and whether or not you need to guess the First, Last or Full Name. Below this, you are given a set of letters from which to choose to build your answer. As you correctly guess the celebrities, you earn points. These points come in handy when you are stumped, which brings us to the very bottom right icon – the “hint” button.
Go there to see what kind of hints you can get and how much they will cost you. For free, you can hook into a Friend to help you out sending them your game screen. All other hints require some amount of points, which get deducted from your total.
The game progresses to more difficult photos such as ones where you only see profiles or the eyes are masked behind sunglasses. Oftentimes, the photos do not depict the celebrity as they usually look, using pictures of them with a beard, a different hair color or updo. However, if you really know your stars…this should not be a problem. If you don’t like how your game is progressing, like say you’ve run out of points and you just can’t solve the puzzle – you can “Start Over” from the main menu. This will delete your previous session, allowing you to start from ground zero.
Overall I really enjoyed playing Fame Face as it was simple and entertaining. However, it would be nice if you could have the option to revert back to an easier difficulty level when things get tough, rather than have to do a full reset and start over. You really don’t lose all that much by starting over, but it might prevent a player from getting discouraged and just remove the app from their device altogether.
I tried this out last night and couldn’t put it down. I went way past my bedtime, unfortunately; but hey, this speaks for the game! I would definitely recommend Fame Face to anyone who loves a good guessing game and is celebrity savvy.
