The biggest trade show in the world kicked off at Berlin and every year, in September, we get to see new and innovation gadgets and appliances shown off at the event. This year is obviously no exception as we have Samsung, LG, Sony and others showing off their next gen devices as well as debuting some extremely good looking smartwear devices among others. In this post, lets take a look at some of the new smartphones shown off at IFA 14.
New Smartphones at IFA 14
Galaxy Note 4
The Galaxy line has been around for a long time and its hard to imagine what else could be new or innovative to excite consumers in the Galaxy Note 4. However, the phablet still appears to be the star of the show as Samsung has added several new features to it from its flagship Galaxy S5. Two significant features of interest are the heart rate monitor and the 16MP camera. The device’s 5.7 inch display is perfect for accessing applications in the Multi Window. Note 4 also comes with a stylus and has a back cover that looks like leather (but is not!).
As far as the camera goes, there is a 16 MP rear camera featuring a Smart Optical Image Stabilizer that balances the shakes and adjusts the exposure time in dark settings. The 3.7 MP front camera offers up to 120 degree wide angle view, which is perfect for taking group photos.
Other notable features include an improved Fingerprint Scanner, Fast Charging and Ultra Power Saving Mode. The Galaxy Note 4 also comes with multiple microphones and an improved speaker phone for better noise cancellation, which should be handy when you’re communicating in loud environments. There is a built-in Voice Recorder that offers 8 different directional voice tagging with selective playback capabilities that allows users to isolate and listen to specific voices in a group conversation. The Note 4 will be available in Charcoal Black, Frost White, Bronze Gold, and Blossom Pink in global markets from October.
Galaxy Note Edge
The Galaxy Note Edge takes the Galaxy Note experience to the next level. It features the same specifications as the Note 4, but it stands out in terms of its curved screen which allows users quick access to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality at the swipe of a thumb. Users can also receive notifications when the cover is closed directly on the Edge Screen. The Galaxy Note Edge will be available in Charcoal Black and Frost White in select markets through Samsung’s retail channels, e-commerce and carriers later in the year.
Sony Xperia Z3
The Sony Xperia 3 is a fully waterproof device that comes with two innovative features, the award-winning Cyber-shot and Handycam technology experience and PS4 Remote Play so you can connect your PS4 and play video games on your phone.
