The LG G2 is one of the newest high-end smartphones on the market that has very powerful specs, but it still has some stiff competition. One of its major competitors is the HTC One. Which device is really the best? It comes down to hardware and the fight might not be as close as you would think.
LG G2 vs. HTC One
Processor
The G2 delivers a powerful blow against the One when it comes to the processor. Both the CPU and GPU are much stronger than the One’s hardware. The G2 come with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon CPU and the Adreno 330 GPU. The One only has a 1.7GHz Snapdragon CPU and the Adreno 320 GPU. The GPUs are close, but the CPUs are completely different.
Display and Resolution
Which do you prefer, size or clarity? The G2 wins with size. It has a 5.2-inch display, which dwarf’s the One’s 4.7-inch display. At the same time, the One has a 469 PPI rating, which is much better than the G2’s 424 PPI. Both are good, but you have to choose which one is better for your unique needs and preferences.
Battery
Both devices last a long time, but the G2’s battery is much better. It’s rated at 3,000mAh while the One only has a 2,300mAh battery. Both of these smartphones should last throughout the day even if you are using a 4G connection, but the G2 should last much longer. Neither battery can be removed.
Internal Storage
Neither device allows for expandable memory, which means that you need to get as much internal storage as you can. The One definitely wins this battle. You can choose between either 32GB or 64GB. The G2 comes close with a 32GB model, but the primary device just has 16GB. While 16GB should be enough for most people, it’s always best to have more memory.
Camera
The One’s camera looks like a child’s toy when compared to what the G2 is offering. The camera wars are becoming more intense, and the G2 is equipped with a 13MP camera. While there are other devices on the market with stronger cameras, this is definitely a respectable addition to a great phone. The One only has a 4MP camera. It tries to make up for this shortcoming with a few extra features, but it doesn’t come close to the other device.
User Interface
Both devices are running Android 4.2, but they differ in the user interface because neither is running vanilla Android. These highly customized interfaces can be a blessing or a curse depending on your preferences. The G2’s Optimus UI is closer to an unskinned Android interface. The major differences are that you can customize the launch screen, icons and easily add notes to any images. One’s Sense UI constantly adapts to your behavior by showing your favorite apps and websites on the front menu, which makes it much easier to find things that you commonly use.
Conclusion
LG G2 might have a slightly lower resolution, but everything else is much better. If you’re looking just at hardware, then the LG G2 definitely wins this battle. Thus it commands a higher price tag than the HTC One. However, there are sites (more information on free Sprint activation here) that waive the activation fee when you purchase a new phone from Sprint . At the same time, the HTC One is better when it comes to storage, and the UI is often considered one of the best. Why not have both if you need 2 or more lines in your account?
