Consumer electronics giant LG has gone ahead and unveiled its flagship phablet, the G Pro 2 in South Korea. This feature-rich phablet is set to provide some competition to Samsung’s Note 3, which is the undisputed leader in the phablet space. The follow up to last year’s G Pro, the Pro 2 comes with more power and plenty of exciting features.
LG G Pro 2 Features
The device comes with a 5.9-inch Full HD IPS display with an impressive screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2 percent. LG has introduced a unique powering on feature called the Knock Code which makes it easier and more convenient to turn on your device. Basically an improvement over the KnockOn feature in the LG G2 model, Knock Code lets users simply tap their screen using any of the 86367 combinations available. The knock code can be entered anywhere on the screen even when the device is turned off and the taps themselves can range anywhere between two to eight.
The LG G Pro 2’s 13MP camera with Optical Image Stabilizer Plus(OIS) functionality ensures that you capture the best images and videos especially in low light situations or when in motion. LG states that the increase in size and sensitivity of the front and rear cameras rivals the ones you would find in stand alone point-and-shoot cameras.
Video recording capabilities of the G Pro 2 include recording in 120fps HD and editing them at three different speeds; half slow-mo, one-fourth slow-mo and original. If you’ve got a 4K TV set, you can record your videos in ultra HD mode for playback on them.
Another interesting feature worth mentioning is the Magic Focus, which lets users select the focus depth after taking the picture. An “All in Focus” icon can also be pressed to set the focus on all spots of the image. For those who love taking selfies, a Flash option has been included to create a soft-lighting in the self portrait mode. The camera also offers the burst shot mode which captures 20 continues shots automatically. This one even creates a video of the captured photos. G Pro 2 users can also create a collage from the gallery for quick uploading to social networking sites.
Other key features of the G Pro 2 include Content Lock which lets users lock files, photos, videos, and memos with a unique password. There is also a mini view that shrinks the display to a more optimal size for operating with one hand. Finally, the Dual Browser mode lets you open two browser windows on its expansive screen for easy surfing.
