There are plenty of feature-rich PDF editors that help you modify the contents of a PDF document. Some of them are paid tools while others are available for free. One tool that I did not mention in my previous coverage was PDF Eraser. This is a simple Windows based application that does exactly what it says. It lets you erase or delete text, images and objects from PDF documents. Let’s take a look at how PDF Eraser works.
PDF Eraser Review
PDF Eraser is a freeware product that only takes a minute or so to set up. It was a relief to note that unlike so many freeware tools in the market today, PDF Eraser did not install any bloatware or unwanted toolbars during the installation process.
The PDF Eraser interface is clean and minimalistic. The menu bar at the top has four options and below it lies a Ribbon-type menu with three key functions. To start making edits to your PDF, you first need to open up the file that needs fixing.
As soon as you open up the file you’ll notice that extra contextual functions get included in the Ribbon-type menu. You have options to choose a small medium or large eraser, add text or images move an object and undo the last action.
The left pane is split into two. The top pane indicates the pages in the PDF with the option to view them as list items or thumbnail images.
The lower pane displays the ID and description of the objects you edited.
You can add images and text and use the color, font, thickness and other options in the Tools menu to format the text or images you added. Apart from adding and erasing text, you can also remove unwanted pages from the PDF. The Page Cutter option lets you do that.
The Page Cutter
You cannot cut off a page from the current document you are editing though. You must save the file and open it again in the Page Cutter dialog box. Then just select the page or pages you want to delete and hit Delete Selected. You can save the file or open it to see if the changes are reflected correctly.
PDF Eraser could do with a lot more features such as cut copy, paste and so on, but it can be quite a useful tool if you often have to make small editorial changes to your PDF files. It’s free to use and saves you plenty of time if you’re thinking of going for a free online service.
Download PDF Eraser and let us know if you found it useful.
