DIY Phone Gadgets for 2012
DIY antenna
If your phone signal strength is weak then you can easily knock together an antenna for your phone right at the home! If you have a cell phone with protruding antennae, just attach a paper clip or wire over it. Fix this wire in place with a duct tape and bend it at an angle of 90 degrees to boost the signal.
DIY signal enhancer
Here is a trick to improve the phone signal. Take an empty can and cut off its bottom surface with a can opener. Then, place the can on a spread out sheet of newspaper. Now, take a second coffee can and solder its open end onto the first can. Then, make a hole about 4 inches above the bottom of the cans with a nail and hammer. Next thing you will need is an antennae connector. Just unscrew the antennae’s button and solder a copper wire into the resulting hole. Now insert the copper wire first and then the antennae connector into the hole of the coffee cans. Once inside, screw the nut back on the antennae connector. The clamp on the antenna connector should be attached to the copper wire. Place this device on the window, balcony or any other open area of the house. Then, insert the other end of the antenna cable to the point on your handset which remains revealed by removing the rubber plug from its chassis.
DIY crank charger
Another handy DIY phone gadget for mobiles is a hand crank charger which can supply power to handsets even in the absence of electricity! You will need a hand crank flashlight for this. Open the flashlight by unscrewing it. A hand crank generator along with a battery will be embedded inside. A set of red and black wires will be seen emerging from the generator. Next, cut your phone’s electrical charger into half.
Now, take the two loose ends of the wire and then strip off the insulation to reveal the unexposed black and red wire’s from both ends. All red wires have to be inserted in the positive terminal of the battery while the bunch of black wires will go into its negative terminal. The device is ready and your cell phone will receive charge whenever you crank the flashlight!
DIY phone holder
Another easy to do device is a phone holder. Just measure the amount of fabric needed by placing the phone on the cloth. Now setting aside two inches on the top, cut out the fabric and then sew it up to create a pouch for your phone. To attach a Velcro strap, just cut out two slits at the back of the holder, and then weave in the strap.
DIY phone stand
If you find that your phone does not have a place of its own, make a stand for it. Get hold of two empty cigarette cases. Keep them at right angle to each other and paste them. Now cover the entire thing with a marble paper. Now your DIY phone stand is ready for keeping your phone.
So you see, it is really simple to make DIY phone gadgets at home. The materials to build these gadgets do not cost much, and even the process is not time consuming. This is a fun activity which helps to cut down expenses.
