Having a website is quite different from managing your presence on social media. If you have a website, you are going to have visitors all through the day. But social media sites are different, it is about having your post visible and trending when the traffic peaks. There have been a lot of studies and analysis over the traffic on various social media sites and of late, there has been an infographic that is being circulated on the Web. Here is what I think will be the best time to post on social media.
If you are planning to increase the traffic flow or having the most number of people read your post, you need to first analyze the service that you offer. If you are offering services to charter the needs of a corporate, then a post or an announcement during the weekend will be the last thing that you’d want to do. So, before you begin thinking about the best time to post on social media, you will have to determine the user group that you are targeting and the kind of service that you are offering.
Best Time to Post on Social Media
The age group of Facebook and Twitter is pretty much the same. So, when you have an important announcement to make, make sure that it is not on a Sunday evening or a Monday morning. Those are the days when these sites have the least amount of traffic. Since most schools and offices block social networking sites and if your target audiences are people in the age group of 20 to 40, it is better that you post after 8pm, local time. Both Twitter and Facebook seem to have their share of online traffic build up after 9pm, local time, but that doesn’t mean that you should wait till the wee hours of the morning to post. On the other hand, if you have a huge fan following, then continue to post at the same time every single day.
Professional networking sites like LinkedIn on the other hand have their traffic build up when offices start and end their day. You wouldn’t want to post on LinkedIn during weekend and after business hours. Google+ is pretty much like LinkedIn, where the traffic peaks during the start of the day and gradually reduces after 10 in the morning.
If you are planning to build audiences through Pinterest or Tumblr, it is a different story and is completely opposite to that of Google+ and LinkedIn. Pinterest and Tumblr have their traffic peak during the evenings and late night. Tumblr for example, seems to have the most number of users logged in after 10 in the night.
Conclusion
There is no best time to post on social media. Depending on the service you offer and the target audience, you need to look for the pattern and use the tools available to analyze the traffic. By doing this, you will not only be able to reach the most number of people, you can improve your business and generate potential leads too.
