Remember the Jetsons?! The one thing I loved (and envied) about that animated sitcom was that they could do practically everything by clicking a few buttons here and few there. I think it’d be quite a while before we can get to that kind of time but nevertheless I find it amazing if a simple thing can give you the push-just-a-few-buttons functionality. WorkforceGrowth is one of those thingamatechie (according to Barney of How I met your mother, creating your own words shows creativity :D) web app which provided me with a pleasant surprise of making a defined and detailed company structure for me with me doing as little as possible. Allow me to tell you about how WorkforceGrowth is an ideal talent management tool for your business.
What Makes WorkforceGrowth an Ideal Talent Management Tool
The one thing I saw (and found a bit irritating) in most of these online HR systems is the cumbersome initial process. Although these systems make work so much easier later on it’s a headache to first add all the departments, add all the employees in the correct department, create job titles and then assign each employee the correct job title. And this doesn’t even cover the hierarchy of the company.
I’ll tell you later how to sign up for WorkforceGrowth but first let me walk you through the pleasant surprise I mentioned earlier. What WorkforceGrowth did was that it provided a downloadable CSV file. It contains all the required columns that you need to fill out with your employees’ basic info. There are a lot of fields but you need to fill only the mandatory ones and you’re still good to go. You can even tweak your existing spreadsheet to match the column sequence and just upload it directly.
Manage Your Employees Effectively
And now the miracle work: the system is loaded up with the info you provided. Open up the organization chart and you’ll clasp your hands in awe when you see all the employees neatly stacked in the departments that you entered with the job titles that you assigned to them. You can not only view which employees fall under which department but also see who reports to whom. One more thing; click on the image of any employee and you’ll end up on that employee’s profile page. Quickest access to any employee in the company!
Moving the Scope to the Admin Panel
Now let’s walk over to the administrative panel and see what goodies are in store for you there. There’s a clearly marked section named Company there. Here I’ll ask you to recall that little excel sheet (CSV file) that you uploaded earlier. Why am I asking this? Good question. Here’s why. See the three sub-categories under the Company section?! These contain all the info that you entered. Let’s find out what’s there.
Everything About Your Company
The Company module provides you information about three sections: Employees, Job Titles & Departments. Each of these three sub-categories provide you with two kinds of views: Tabular and Hierarchical views. Tabular view shows everything in the form of a list with related info. And hierarchical view shows everything in the form of well…a hierarchy!
The web app is so simple and self-explanatory that you can’t go wrong with it and you rarely get lost or confused. Each of the views allows you to add more (employees/job titles/departments), edit existing info or simply move some info from one place to another. Basically all your company info is in these three sub-categories which you can modify according to your desires or even whim (although the latter’s not recommended).
You can even export all the employee data in an excel sheet and work with it however you deem suitable. Work on PC or print it (and snuggle in bed with a hot cup of coffee and work). Best thing about it: you can employ that data even if you don’t have an internet connection.
Simple Performance Review System
Going through just these three sub-categories must be making you think “Wow, it’s got so much to offer!” but you haven’t gotten to its major portion yet. I don’t wanna bore you with such a long review so I’ll quickly tell you how the Review System of WorkforceGrowth works. This is associated to the hierarchies that you created previously.
In the All Reviews section, you can create a new review for as many employees as you want ranging from one employee to the entire company. While creating a review you’ll notice that you can create annual, biannual, quarterly or reviews for any other period of your choice. While selecting employees, you can choose who they’d be reviewed by depending on your company policies and situational demands.
Once the review is created they automatically reach the concerned reviewers’ WorkforceGrowth accounts. All they need to do now is log in, fill up the reviews and submit them. The system does practically every painstaking job for you. Once the review of an employee is completed by all the reviewers, the system does the calculations depending on the rating given by the reviewers and presents a score to you. Not only that you can even see the comments given by the reviewers without revealing their identities. Thus, employees can find out their strengths and weaknesses through other people’s eyes and can know what’s missing in them.
Managers can view the reviews of their teams too so as to know how they are performing and even figure out where their teams are lagging and depending on that decide on steps to overcome that. Thus, WorkforceGrowth helps you to make important decisions regarding enhancing your company’s productivity.
Nominating Your Peers
sigh*….yes we all wish it was for Oscars but no that’s not what this is! Most of the times, it’s not only your manager or your team who are the best people to review you but people from other teams who you worked with or helped out in any way. That’s where Peer Nomination comes into use. You send requests to employees before creating their reviews to ask them which employees might be the best reviewers for their review. This reduces half the burden of the HR personnel.
Employee Insight
Three words! Detailed, insightful and pretty! Although after completion of each review both the employee and manager see the detailed report and even see the overall score but wouldn’t you just adore the WorkforceGrowth people when you find out that in the Analytics you can view the details of your key performance areas since the beginning of time and all in interactive visual form?!
Signing Up with WorkforceGrowth
Signing up for WorkforceGrowth is a pretty quick and straightforward process. They provide you a Registration Form that you fill out with your company info like Company’s name, email address, company url and number of employees. You submit the form and your company profile is created. Easy Peasy!
Pricing
When you sign up, you’re immediately entitled to a 10-day free trial. So for 10 days do whatever you want with it and figure out if this is what you want. After 10 days you pay a measly amount of $5 per employee per month inclusive of all the services. Apart from these services, if you ever feel confused then the Online Support is there to answer whatever questions you might have.
Conclusion
WorkforceGrowth is a company’s best friend. The web app is so detailed that I couldn’t cover even half of what it has to offer. But you know what, it’s so easy-to-use that you can sign up for the free trial and start playing with it. I’m sure you’ll be so amazed that you’d definitely want to rent the product. This simple talent management tool is packed with stuff to make a company’s desire for better talent management and employee appraisal so much smoother and easier to accomplish. I’d suggest all of you to give it a try. Even if you don’t find it suitable for your needs, no harm done.
