Nokia Music, the mobile app you may have seen on Nokia mobiles has finally made its way to the Windows 8 Store. Nokia Music is based on a subscription model, but if you are curious to check out the app and its features, you can take advantage of the 7 day free trial offer where you can preview songs for about 30 seconds. The app is not available in all countries though, but if you are in the US, UK, and Australia, be sure to check it out.
The Nokia Music Interface
The Nokia Music app has been well designed for the Windows 8 interface. It features different tiles you can choose to customize your musical experience. Tiles are already preloaded with songs from a particular genre and are called Mixes. If you’re a hip-hopper, there’s a tile featuring popular music from hip hop artists, if you love electronic music, there’s one for you too! In fact there’s a whole lot to choose from: Christian music, Blues, Country, Comedy, Chart busters, March madness, Best of 2012, and so much more. Nokia Music brings you all this in a super clean and easy to use interface.
Nokia Music Playlists
Nokia Music lets you also set up your own custom mixes. Just tap on the Create New Mix style and in the ensuing search box, type the name of the artists you want to add to your custom collection. The app will automatically generate the playlist based on your choice of artists. I noticed that a custom playlist can only hold 3 artists, and that seems to be a limitation.
Download Custom Playlists Offline
Custom playlists let you take your music offline. Just swipe down or right-click the custom playlist tile and select Take offline. This lets you listen to your favorite lists anytime, anywhere. Currently, there’s no option to download individual songs, but this pack should keep you happy enough.
Lyrics to Sing Along
Who doesn’t sing along while the music plays! A big feature that everyone’s sure to love is the ability to view synchronized lyrics to live streaming music !
Listening to Your Collection
Nokia Music even lets you listen to music stored on your PC, smartphone or tablet. Just browse to the My Music section to listen to songs you already have on your device. This saves you the trouble of having to open up a separate player when you want to switch over to your personal music collection.
Subscription Costs
Nokia Music isn’t too pricey. For $3.99 a month, you can enjoy a powerful musical experience; unlimited song skipping, any number of offline mixes, synchronized lyrics where available, the best audio quality( 192 kpbs audio streaming) and the ability to take your music anywhere, on a tablet, PC, or smartphone along with other cool features.
Free Trial Offer
If you want to give Nokia Music a try, you can go for the 7-day free trial version that lets you listen to a 30 second song preview along with other features of the app.
Create a Nokia Account
You’ll need to set up an account with Nokia before you get started and that can be done in-app itself. This will also make it easier for you to purchase songs you love.
Nokia Music is an awesome Windows 8 app. With over 20 million songs in its database, and a sound app to access the music, you can’t go wrong with this one.
