Snapchat wants to be a messaging service that offers the most human and natural way to converse with others. Its latest feature update, dubbed Chat 2.0, is now available on Android and iOS devices across the world and offers plenty of exciting goodies including seamless transition between voice and video calling, Auto-Advance Stories, and tons and tons of brand new stickers. Read on to learn more about the update.
New Features in Snapchat Chat 2.0 Update
Snapchat is at its heart a messenger service and the improvements made in Chat 2.0 are designed to make communication between friends smoother and more natural. Unlike the Snapchat of old where you and your friend had to be online to have a live chat, in Chat 2.0, you can call a friend any time, even if they are not in a chat and if they don’t pick up, you can leave them an audio message or note to check later on.
You can send these voice notes inside chats as well just like you would send text messages and photos. When the recipient gets the message they will disappear. If someone sends you one such message, you will receive a notification on your device for you to take action. You can choose to join the chat, ignore it, or answer without activating your camera. If you are on a call with your Snapchat mate and something comes up, you can seamlessly switch from a video call to texting or voice chat just by tapping a button.
Apart from improvements to calling, one other feature that users are going to enjoy using is Auto-Advance Stories. All of your friend’s stories will now be available in a continual stream. As you finish reading a Story the next one begins automatically. You can still swipe to skip ahead or pull down to exit. All Stories can be viewed multiple times in 24 hours.
Finally, Chat 2.0 brings 200 stickers to express yourself even better. You can find them by tapping the smiley face icon in Chat and the Sticker you want.
