10 Windows Phone 7 Tips to Help You Get Started
1. Using Call or Text in Lock Mode
If you want to call or text someone with the phone in Lock mode, go to Settings > Speech, and then tap the Use Speech when the phone is locked option to enable the feature.
2. Using Speed Dial
If you need to call someone back, just go to Start, tap Phone, then tap Call next to an entry in your call history.
3. Search using Voice Commands
To search using voice commands, press and hold the Start button to open up Speech, then tell your phone what you want to find.
4. Capture Photos in Lock Mode
To capture a picture when your phone is in lock mode, press and hold the camera. You can then snap or view pictures you’ve captured without unlocking your phone.
5. Edit Your Photos
Want to make your photos look great? Just open a picture, tap More-> Auto-Fix and start editing.
6. Upload Pictures to the Cloud
To upload a low resolution picture captured on your camera to the cloud, that is SkyDrive, in the Pictures Hub, tap More -> Settings and then select Automatically upload to SkyDrive.
7. Search the web with Your Camera
To search the web by scanning with your phone’s camera, press the Search button, tap Vision, and then point the phone at a QR code, tag, or text.
8. Pinning Cloud Locations
Pin document locations such as SkyDrive or SharePoint to the Start for faster access by navigating to the Office Hub, tapping and holding a location, then tapping Pin to Start.
9. Text Message a Screenshot
When you want to capture an image from your Windows phone screen and message it to your friends, start a new text message, then tap Attach > Camera to snap and attach the image.
10. Email Appointment Delays
Late for a meeting? Open the appointment on your phone and tap Late to send a quick email informing other meeting attendees that you’re not going to make it on time.
