4 Things You’re Doing that is Probably Killing Your Laptop

October 24, 2011

This is a guest post from Paul. Paul is a broadband and laptop expert that help people get the best free laptop deals.

Have you ever thought about the possibility that some of the activities you do on a regular basis on your laptop is killing it? A lot of us have a laptop or two, and many of us love our laptops a lot because our business depends on it. If you’re someone like me, there’s every possibility you can’t bear your laptop crashing and you losing your files, and there is also every probability that you use your laptop every single day.

I help people around me with their laptops, and as a result people come to me whenever they have a problem with it. One thing that surprises me, though, is the rate at which people misuse their laptops and then wonder why it is giving them problems. In this article I will be listing 4 things you might be doing that is killing your laptop.

4 Things You’re Doing that is Probably Killing Your Laptop

You’re Not Shutting it Down Properly

The number one thing most people do that destroys their laptop is not shutting it down properly. Some people just close the lid of their laptop whenever they are through with it, and some use the button on the laptop to shut it down. Some people don’t even bother to shut down their laptop until the battery is exhausted and as a result wonder why it is giving them problems. Shutting down your laptop is equivalent to you putting it to rest, and the more rested your laptop is, the more effective it is likely to be. You can easily eliminate a large percentage of a problem your laptop face by shutting it down properly.

You’re Not Careful with How You Use External Devices with it

Another thing you might be doing that is killing your laptop is that you are not careful with how you use external devices with it. Don’t just install any flash drive from a source you don’t trust, or any external device you aren’t certain. Make sure you only use external devices that you can vouch for and you will be able to reduce the chances of your laptop being infected by a virus.

You Don’t Have an Antivirus Installed

Viruses are currently the number one threat to a computer, and the rate at which laptop computers are infected by viruses every year is stunning. It is very important to ensure you have a current antivirus installed on your computer, because, that way, you will be able to significantly reduce the chances of your laptop being infected by a virus while at the same time you will be notified should there be a threat to your computer.

You’re Killing Your Laptop with Applications

The final way you might be killing your laptop that you are probably not aware of is with applications. Maybe you love to install a lot of applications on your computer. You can easily preserve your laptop life and save your system resources by reducing the number of applications you install on it. Make sure you only install applications you trust and need, and if you think you won’t need an application again you should quickly uninstall it.
