8 Must Have Apps For The Traveling Professional

October 21, 2013

As a business professional, you  may find yourself traveling for work. Years ago, this could put a huge damper on your professional career, as you’d have to stay in touch via pay phones or phones in your hotel room. Today, though, the traveling professional can travel the globe without even missing a beat of their daily responsibilities thanks to smartphones, computers and tablets.

8 Must Have Apps For Working On the Go

If you travel often for work, the following are eight apps that you need to download to help you work more efficiently.

1. Flight Track

Flight Track

The number one worst thing you could experience as a traveling professional is running late to your flight or being stuck in an airport with a cancelled flight. With the help of Flight Track, you no longer have to worry. This app will keep you updated with all the information about your flight, whether it’s coming in on time or if there are delays. This way, you can be sure to leave for the airport at the right time or find another flight if necessary.

2. Taxi Magic

If you’re forced to use taxis while traveling, Taxi Magic is a great way to locate and pre-book your taxi service for your trip. This way, you’re not stuck locating taxi companies in the area or waiting for availabilities. Instead, the taxi will come to you so you can get to your meetings on time.

3. Dropbox

It’s likely that you’re going to forget a document at the office, but if you have Dropbox, forgetting something at the office is no longer a big deal. With Dropbox, you can save all of your documents on the cloud so that they can be accessed from anywhere. Plus, you can even share these files with other employees or business partners, so you can ensure everyone constantly has access to the correct and necessary documents.

4. Skype

Even when you’re out of the office, you may still need face time with your employees or coworkers. Skype allows you to video chat with others while you’re on the go, so you can still attend important meetings even though you’re currently working remotely. This is a great way to stay in touch with the happenings at the office and ensure you don’t miss a beat.

5. WiFi Finder

If you’re in need of an internet connection, WiFi Finder will use geolocation software to provide you with a list of the closest hotspots in your area. This can help you determine the place to go if you need to get on the Internet without draining battery life.

6. Expensify

If your company requires you to keep track of your travel expenses, Expensify can be the biggest help. With this app, you can easily keep track of every single expense you incur while on your trip, from your plane ticket down to your coffee. Then, the app will even compile your expense in a detailed and organized report for you to hand in to your employer when you return.

7. LinkedIn

You’re going to meet new people during your travels, so it’s important to learn more about them to strengthen your bond and partnership. LinkedIn is a social network for professionals, and you can use this app to connect with people you’ve recently met or learn more about the people you’re going to meet. Either way, it’s an essential for the success of your trip.

8. Rev Voice Recorder

With Rev Voice Recorder, you can record the entire conference, meeting or seminar and save it to be accessed at a later date or share with others. Plus, the talk-to-text function allows you to have the recording professionally transcribed, which could come in handy for a variety of reasons.
