Take your game with you with Appnori’s Baseball Kings. You are on the virtual team called the Kings and you get to pick who you want to play against. Baseball Kings is an app that runs on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, so you can play it anywhere you take your device. It brings the fun of baseball, both pitching and hitting, to a screen where you can get your baseball fix mid-season or off.
Baseball Kings Review
The creators at Appnori have taken the concept of a baseball app and made it simple and easy to play. Exercises and tutorials make it straightforward to learn how to make just the right swipe so that you can send the pitch at the right angle and strike out your opponent.
When you first download the game, you will see the main screen which offers up:
- Game Play
- Training
- Batting
- Administrative icons at the bottom of the screen
Game Play takes you straight to the game. This sounds like you just start playing immediately, but thankfully, this is not the case. If you choose the game play option first, and this is recommended in my opinion, you will play through a tutorial first, which was more informative than the Training option, and provided more educative guidance.
Game Play also offers a rich set of help screens that explain the game, its levels and its rewards and how you will traverse it as you win games and stack up stats.
In the game, you start off pitching. Once you get the opposing team out and change innings, your team is up for bat. This is the part that is not so exciting and does not require any special skill. You simply tap on the ball and send it. A scroll that looks very much like a slot machine reader then tells you if you made it to base, made a double, triple, home run or struck out. Not much excitement there.
Choose Training and you will be taken to a screen that offers up some pitching practice. This exercise guides users on the types of pitches that are available, but come up randomly. You cannot choose the type of pitch you want to make, at least not in the lower levels of play. What you can do is make your pitch better by going through training. I think what is given in the tutorial during game play should also be offered in the training exercises, because it was more informative.
The only downside to Baseball Kings is the batting part of it. I am not quite sure why it’s there because there is not much you can do in that part of the game, unless I was missing something.
Otherwise, learning to swipe your finger at just the right angle and speed became quite addicting as I continued play and collected points. You don’t have to be a baseball lover to enjoy this game. Download and give it a try.
