Sometimes you want your e-reader to do more than just give you access to the book store and provide for great reading. Maybe you want to upload and access your own files and documents, take notes on them and share and upload it to others. If that’s what you’re hoping to do, then check out the newest in Boox’s lineup the Boox Tab X. This is an Android-based color ePaper reader that has a tablet-like interface with powerful features such as custom widgets and navigational buttons. Announced at CES 2023, the Boox Tab X is now available in the US for about $880. Pricey, but here’s why you’d still want to own it!
Features of Boox Tab X
Display
The Boox Tab X features a 13.3-inch screen with a thin touch layer that gives the impression of a paper reading experience. There’s a built in gravity sensor that rotates the screen in response to your motion, which makes it easy to use the ereader in portrait or landscape mode.
Battery
The Tab X sports a huge 6,300mAh battery pack, which should be ideal to do a variety of tasks.
Stylus Pen 2 Pro
The Tab X comes with a cool Pen2 pro stylus that has an eraser. The pen promises a premium handwriting experience with options to erase the notes you don’t want.
Bluetooth Support
When you want to use the Tab X as a tablet/PC, you can connect it to a Bluetooth keyboard and seamlessly type texts. The tab’s versatile software lets you insert hyperlinks into your notes, sync book data across devices, mark up recordings among other things.
Access to Google Play
Since the e-reader runs on Android 11, you get access to the Google Play Store from where you can download apps and games of your choice.

Final Thoughts
For an e-reader device that can also work as a tablet, the price of $880 is definitely a turnoff. However, with a octa-core processor, 128GB storage, and 6GB RAM, and a stylus pen the company is hoping that it will justify the price tag.
