The Intel Developer conference yesterday saw Intel and Dell show off to the world the Dell Venue 8 7000, which is the thinnest tablet in the market right now. This tablet brings powerful specs packed inside a super slim design that stands out from the crowd not only for the fact but also for its integration with Intel’s RealSense technology, which can make its 3D camera deliver some cool tricks. Here’s what we know about the Dell Venue 8 7000.
Dell Venue 8 7000 Series Features
The Dell Venue 8 7000 Series is a beauty. It has a gorgeous 8.4 inch Quad HD OLED touch screen display with 2560×1600 resolution running on a quad core Moorefield processor with 16 GB of internal storage. There also a micoSD card slot if you want to expand the storage capabilities. This is the world’s thinnest tablet, at just 6 mm or less than a quarter of an inch. The device runs on stock Android 4.4 Kit Kat.
The Dell Venue 8 7000 has a unique asymmetrical build with a board black band on one side of the device that holds the cameras and a large speaker. A striking feature of the tablet is the RealSense camera, which is capable of measuring the depth of a scene which it can then use for various purposes. The RealSense camera is just a stripe on the back of the device and it allows you to see the world in three dimensions. You can use the camera to scan your environments, capture them in 3D and share it with the world. In the world of gaming, it can be used to scan yourself to a video game character or hero to look like you.
With the RealSense technology, you can extend your creativity to the photos and videos you shoot. You can change your focus after you shoot, remove a background and even get to measure the length or height of items just by capturing them. For instance you could capture an image of a couch and measure its length on the tablet to determine if it will fit your living room.
RealSense technology is just starting to take off and Intel has promised that more ultrabooks, PCs, and tablets will start seeing this technology in the coming months.
Dell has not announced any pricing details on the tablet as yet nor do we have a reliable date of availability, but you can be assured that in will be available in November, just in time for your holiday shopping.
