How to Uninstall Windows Live Messenger
One of the simple frustrations about this program is the fact that people just can’t find a way to uninstall it. The usual place to go when you uninstall programs in Windows is in Control Panel. Specifically the Add/Remove programs list. This page shows the software applications that are already installed on your computer and gives the user the opportunity to modify or remove each item on the list.
Well, when you look at the list you won’t see Windows Live Messenger in there. The clue is finding something that sounds quite like it such as “Windows Live Essentials.” When you see program names like that and the find the file size to be quite enormous then you know that it is a bundled suite of several applications. This is the line that you are looking for in order to uninstall this instant messaging software.
Click on that to highlight it on the Add/Remove list and click on the Change/Remove button. Sure enough, this will open an uninstall dialogue. The next window will ask you to choose which of the programs in the suite or software package that you want to either modify, repair, or uninstall. Obviously, you will then click on Messenger. After selecting that option, click the Continue button at the bottom.
If the dialogue gives you the option to uninstall or repair the said application, choose the option to uninstall the program. The uninstall process will run for a few seconds and then another window will come up. The next window will report what changes have been done. It will tell you that Windows Live Messenger is now uninstalled and at this point click on Close located at the lower right corner of the window.
