Yelp is a searchable site that lists consumer reviews of businesses, including restaurants. Whether you are looking for a local restaurant, or restaurants in a place you plan to visit, a quick search on Yelp will provide you with ideas. If you wish, you may register and create a profile on the site; however, this is only necessary if you plan to post reviews or you wish to chat with other Yelp users. You do not have to register if you only plan to use the search feature. In this post we take a look at how to find healthy restaurants on Yelp.
Reviewers on Yelp have clickable profiles. These profiles display relevant information about the reviewer, such as the reviewer’s rating distribution, how many reviews the reviewer has posted, and the most recent reviews. This adds more credibility to reviews on Yelp than anonymous reviews posted elsewhere. Yelp reviewers are urged to adhere to guidelines and avoid exaggeration or misrepresentation.
How to Find Healthy Restaurants on Yelp
To find healthy restaurants on Yelp, first go to the website and locate the search bar at the top of Yelp’s web page. Type your search terms into the left-side search bar. Search terms you could use for finding healthy restaurants include health food, healthy restaurants, healthiest restaurants, vegetarian restaurants, macrobiotic restaurants, clean eating or healthy cuisine. After supplying one of these search terms, type your location into the right-hand side of the search bar and then click on the “search” button.
Restaurants and consumer reviews will now show on the page. Read through reviews of restaurants that seem appealing. Reviewers write a small review of their personal experience with the restaurant and rate each business on a scale of one to five stars, with five stars being the best. These reviews can give you a good idea of the type and quality of the cuisine as well as the price and general dining experience. When you find restaurants you are interested in, remember to write down the name, address and phone number before moving on to other restaurant’s reviews.
You may also narrow down the search results with filters. Directly above the reviews is a highlighted text-link that is labeled “show filters.” Clicking on that brings up extra options such as choosing the neighborhood (applicable to large cities, such as Los Angeles), the distance, restaurant features, price and category. The number of restaurants and reviews will vary, depending on your search terms and location. Heavily populated areas, such as New York City simply tend to have more restaurants than sparsely populated areas.
