Sharing videos on popular social networks like Vine and Instagram is a common occurrence today. But for anyone who wants to do more than just create and upload videos, there’s Vlur. It’s a new video app for iOS that lets you turn your videos from average or boring ones into something special and fun by adding transitions, music, and other effects. Let’s take a look at what Vlur can do.
Add Cool Effects with Vlur Video App for iOS
Vlur is specifically optimized for Vine and Instagram with time markers. There are 40 transitions and 22 filters to choose from at the moment. You can apply the various effects even on videos you’ve taken previously. Other interesting features of the app include video length extension, flash and timer, background score, and ghost effect.
Vlur is free to download but not all of its features are free. For instance you get 9 transitional effects for free and then you’ll have to unlock the Essentials Pack for $1.99 to access the rest. Other features than can be unlocked via IAPs include a Shifter pack, Scene Stealer pack, Filter extension pack, watermark removal, and expending video length to 5minute, all of which cost $1.99 each with the exception of removing the watermark which will leave you $0.99 short. You can pick up each of these items individually, but to truly make it worth your time, you can unlock everything for $4.99.
Once you launch Vlur, you’ll get a quick run though all the features of the app and where you’ll find all your tools. It works much the way Vine or Instagram does, in that you tap and hold to record and then release to pause between scenes. The app has 6 and 15 second time markers for Vine and Instagram which should be your guide. The app promises to let you can select a transition effect and filter every time you pause but if you’re having issues, just shoot all of your scenes and then hit the Edit button to add your effects.

You can also make use of filters to create awesome effects and give your videos an interesting twist. Filters can be applied on the fly, which means you can select a filter and shoot for a few seconds, then add another filter and shoot and so on. When you have completed your recording, click Done to preview your work. You can always go back and edit any of the effects you applied previously. Finally, you can complete the awesome look by adding a soundtrack. Any song from your music library will do, but at the moment it appears that the app is having certain issues in that department. It should hopefully get fixed in future updates, but for now it’s a little buggy.
Vlur is an interesting app that can surely make your videos stand out from the crowd. Its best value though when you unlock the whole app for $4.99. Since this is the first iteration of the app, expect a few issues to pop up but overall, these should be fixed over time.
