The Indian festive season is just getting started and online businesses are gearing up with plenty of celebratory offers and deals to entice the ever hungry Indian shopper. On that note, India’s popular online price comparison portal, ShoppingWish.in ( founded by ex Microsoft employee and TheFind.com founding member Madhur Khandelwal & cofounder of Dhingana Sushil Choudhari) has launched a cool barcode scanning price comparison app called Scandid that should act as your shopping assistant on the go. We take a look at the exclusive features of the app that has been designed exclusively for the Indian consumer market.
Scandid App Review
Shopping is great fun, even if its done online. That’s because instead of haggling with shopkeepers, you can instantly take advantage of a number of deals and coupons that retailers offer from time to time simply at the click of a button. Every smart Indian shopper who is armed with an Android smartphone and the Scandid app now gets the advantage of instantly comparing the best offers, deals, and prices offered by hundreds of retailers from around the country and making a wise purchase.
Shopping enthusiasts in the US and Europe no longer have the exclusive advantage of apps like ShopSavvy, RedLaser and Pic2Shop. Thanks to ShoppingWish, Scandid app amply fills that space in India.
Using Scandid
Scandid is available as a free download and is dead-easy to use. No signing up or logging in. All one has to do is scan the barcode on a book, electronic item, or appliance to find the best price or coupons for the product.
Alternatively, you can use the Search box to type a keyword or product name and you’ll instantly get the results you are looking for. The Search results pop up super quickly and are pretty accurate as well. I wanted to know the best deals on the Samsung Galaxy S3 and decided to use Scandid to find out the best price I could get if I made an online purchase. So I typed out the the keyword and hit search. I discovered that the device was available in 12 stores across the country with prices ranging from Rs. 26,499 to Rs. 30,344. I was also able to directly visit the online store and make a direct purchase from the respective store, all in a matter of seconds.
You can also retrieve your previous searches and recently viewed items from the Search results page. That’s certainly a quicker way to come back later and retrieve a previously viewed page.
Scandid is a community powered app. That means you can instantly share an awesome deal you discovered with your friends and contacts simply by tapping a few buttons. You can send a chat message, or an SMS to even dash off information on the hottest deal in stores using Facebook and Google +. and if you can’t find a barcode, you can add it yourself.
If you still love shopping the traditional way, you can get good discounts by matching your app offers with what is available in stores. And being the cool promoters they are, ShoppingWish throws in a few cool free offers your way just for using the app. So I’m off to Coffee Day to exchange my free coupon and sip on my favorite crunchy frappe while I debate what my next purchase will be!
If you are an avid Indian shopper, flip out your Androids and download the smartest shopping app in town – Scandid!
Note: iOS app will be coming soon.
