Keep your Data Safe with Some of the Best Android Backup Apps

August 14, 2013

You never realize the value of your data until the day you lose it. And the pain is just as bad even if its on a smartphone. There are plenty of contacts, messages and notes that we may never be able to get back, should anything happen to our devices. We have a tendency to overlook the need for backups until its too late. If you are reading this post, you’ve probably found yourself in such a painful position or you’re really smart and want to be better safe than sorry. Either way, there’s good stuff ahead. I’ve picked out the best Android Backup Apps that will help keep your mobile data safe, always.

Best Android Backup Apps

Titanium Backup Pro Key*Root

titanium backup pro

Titanium Backup has been around for a long time and works only on rooted devices. The free version of the app lets you backup and restore all your app data without a fuss, but the PRO key, which is priced around $6.58 should let you do much more such as schedule backups, do multiple backups, batch restore and verification, migrate system data across different ROMs, cloud backups, data encryption and much much more. If you are thinking about a good paid app, this one’s a very good choice. If you’re looking for a good free app, keep reading.

Super Backup : SMS & Contacts

Super Backup is a free backup solution that lets you backup your contacts, SMS, call logs, bookmarks and calendars to your SD card, your PC or to your Gmail account. You can also schedule automatic backups, view history of your last backup and auto upload scheduled backup files to your Gmail. The Pro version includes all the features of the free version, but is ad-free.

App Backup & Restore

App Backup & Restore is yet another free application that lets you backup your app data or APK files. It won’t backup any of your app data or settings, so keep that in mind before downloading the app. It lets you do a batch backup and restore, auto backup, send APK files via email, share market links, and more. You can also send archived apps to Dropbox if you already have Dropbox installed on your phone. A pretty straightforward application to use, if all you want is to backup apps.

Mobile Backup & Restore from Trend Micro

The popular antivirus solutions provider Trend Micro is behind this free Android backup app. The app lets you backup your contacts, photos, music, videos, call history, calendar and SMS logs in the cloud. You get a free cloud account with 50MB of space with the free app, but for any upload after that, you will essentially be spending a monthly free. The yearly plan costs about $19.99 and gets you 5GB storage. The other features of the app include automatic backups, managing backups, Wi-Fi/3G Awareness, battery saving and more.

truBackup – Backup and Restore

trubackup is a simple, yet effective backup assistant that lets you store your backups either on your SD card or on your Dropbox account. It also performs an intuitive incremental backup as and when apps get updated or modified. You can also schedule your backups, check out your backup logs, and backup multiple android devices within one main Dropbox account. The only limitation with this app is that it won’t backup your app data or settings, just your APK files.
