Windows Live SkyDrive is a useful platform for a number of reasons. You can store, send, and share your documents, photos, and videos with others. What works great for me is the fact that I can upload and share Microsoft Office documents with users who don’t have Microsoft Office. If you have used Excel Web App, you’ve no doubt found some limitations in functionality when compared to the desktop application. The Office team has been working to improve the quality of the free services it offers to its users, and in that respect the Microsoft Excel Web App team has announced a few new features which will no doubt bring cheer to users who have missed a more robust Excel program. Here’s a quick look at the new features and updates in Microsoft Excel Web App.
Microsoft Excel Web App : New Features and Updates
Merge and AutoFit Cells
Excel Web App now allows you to merge cells using the Merge and Center command on the Home tab, in the Alignment group.
You can also AutoFit Excel cell sizes based on the size of the cell contents. All you need to do is simply double-click the cells to achieve the result.
Print Your Excel Sheet directly from Your Browser
You can now print selected portions of your Excel sheet or, if you want to, an entire Excel worksheet, from your SkyDrive account. Just choose File->Print to accomplish this task. You no longer need to access your PC to print out your worksheet.
More Right-click Menu Options
While there’s still a long way to go, right-click context menu options are everyone’s favorites, and are sure a more quicker way of finding commands. Now you can do cut, copy, paste, and hyperlink actions using the right-click context menu.
Improvement in Speed
Excel Web App includes several back end improvements which has resulted in a more faster Excel Web App experience.
If you have any suggestions or features that you’d like to see in Excel Web App, share them with the Excel Web App team.
