The most exciting features of the Microsoft Surface Tablets are the efforts that have been taken to bring the best user experience to the consumer in terms of hardware. The hardware has been designed in such a way so as to be non intrusive. The tablet edges has been set at an angle of 22 degrees providing for the best experience when viewing the tablet from the desktop and affording a great front camera view when video chatting or capturing images.
The casing for the tablet is made by a special molding process called VaporMag and is magnesium based, making for a fine sleek, luxurious look.
The tablet has a built in stand, perfect for resting the tablet when watching a movie. It merges with the tablet’s base and is just non-existent when not needed.
But the best part of the tablet is the Touch and Type covers. Touch Cover identifies keystrokes as gestures thereby making it easy for you to touch type faster than on the onscreen keyboard. It comes in a variety of colors, from the native black to the girly pink. The cool aspect about the Touch Cover is that it doubles up as a keyboard (Type Cover) and can be connected to the tablet via a built-in magnetic connector or disengaged and slapped to the back of the tablet when not needed.
Windows RT is expected to be available in US Retail Stores and the Microsoft Online Stores around the time of release of Windows 8, which should be around October or November 2012 and Windows Pro 8 is expected to be available 3 months later.
There is no word on pricing yet but it should be competitively priced, and honestly, after watching the demo video below, you’d want to buy the product, no matter the price. If you’ve got about an hour on your hands, watch Steve and his team proudly show off the most innovative tablet yet.
