Why buy a Bluetooth keyboard that works with just your Samsung Galaxy tab or iPad? After all, for the money you’re paying, why settle for a product that’s exclusive to one device. Its neither convenient nor sensible. And Microsoft has finally realized that remaining exclusive is not the way forward. That’s precisely why they have announced their latest Universal Mobile Keyboard. This smart keyboard will let you to connect to any mobile device, irrespective of its platform and will be available in October for $79.99.
Microsoft’s Universal Mobile Keyboard
The Universal Mobile Keyboard makes use of a standard Bluetooth connection to connect to a mobile device. However the mobile device must support the Bluetooth Human Interface Device (HID) profile for it to work. You can connect the keyboard to a Windows 8.1 device, then use it on an iPhone or iPad and even an Android smartphone or tablet, should you work with all the devices during the course of your work. Just like the Logitech K480 Bluetooth Keyboard, users can pair the Universal Mobile Keyboard with up to 3 devices simultaneously. The keyboard’s dedicated switch lets you easily jump between the Home screens of your Windows, iOS or Android device.
The Universal Mobile Keyboard is 9.53 inches wide and 12 millimeters thin. It has a rechargeable battery that should last for about six months You can also recharge it again for 10 minutes to use it for another 8 hours. It also features a light protective cover that carries a slot to hold the mobile device, provided the mobile device is not thicker than 10 millimeters. Flipping the cover up allows you to power up the keyboard and connect it to another device via Bluetooth, while closing it will power off the device.
The keyboard will be available in two colors, black and grey. If you’re planning on picking up one of these keyboards, (you may consider this a nice present to place under the Christmas tree) ensure that your device is running Android 4.0 or up, or Windows 8.1 or RT and iOS 6.0 or higher. As I mentioned before, the Universal Mobile Keyboard will be available in the Microsoft Store for $79.95 and with select retail partners.
