Which Mobile Users Need Which Mobile Plans?

July 3, 2013

Choosing which mobile phone plan to go with gets complicated fast. There are just so many mobile service plans on the market, that it’s hard to know which one is right for you. Knowing which plan to go for is instrumental in saving yourself money. Choose a plan that’s too big for you and you’re going to end up with huge limits of calling minutes, text messages and data that you don’t use up by the end of the month, meaning you’re paying for services that you’re not using. On the other hand, if you choose a plan that’s too small you’ll consistently go over your contract’s limits, and end up paying expensive extra fees for using extra services.

Of course, maybe you don’t need a contract at all, and should go with a pay as you go plan. Just how do you know who offers the best service for you at the best price? Comparison shopping for mobile plans can take all day, but we’re here to help you. Today we’re talking about which plans suit which kinds of mobile users, and which networks you should look at. There’s a plan here for everyone, so if you’re confused about which service to go for, read on to find out what we recommend for you.

How to Choose the Best Mobile Plans

Light Phone Users: T-Mobile’s Pay as You Go Plans…

which mobile plans to choose - light users

A light phone user is someone who makes around thirty minutes of calls a week, sends three or four text messages and uses mobile data only for sending emails and looking up directions. If you recognize yourself here, then the best plan for you is T-Mobile’s pay as you go plan. Light users generally benefit from pay as you go plans because rather than paying for calling, texting and data packages that they don’t use up on a contract plan, they pay only for what they actually use. And T-Mobile has some of the best prices on pay as you go rates. They don’t offer high data limits, but if you don’t need that then you should definitely go with T-Mobile. Oh, and they get great coverage too.

Big Data Users on a Budget: 3 SIM Only Plans…

which mobiles plan to choose - big users

Mobile data is one of the most expensive parts of a mobile contract, and if you’re a big internet user then you’re going to be looking for something with an unlimited data cap. 3 SIM only plans have truly unlimited data allowances. That means that the company doesn’t employ a fair data usage policy and won’t throttle your data speeds if they feel that you’re using too much data. Plus, 3 SIM only plans have the cheapest mobile data rates on the market. You don’t get great rates for calling minutes, however, so if you frequently use your phone for calling these plans might not be for you. But if you want to be online whenever you want for as long as you want, then you need to go with 3.

Moderate Users Who Want a Phone: O2 iPhone Contract…

If you’re just a regular phone user who needs a normal, cost effective contract without huge calling, texting or data limits, and you need a new phone too, then you should look at O2’s iPhone contracts. You don’t get huge data limits with O2, though they are high enough for normal users, and calling and texting rates are pretty average. But O2 incentive contracts do offer great prices on iPhones. If you’re looking to get a great mobile at a great price, then O2 iPhone deals really are the way to go. You’ll pay less than you will with other operators, and if you don’t have the cash to pay for your iPhone right now, then an incentive plan will give you what you need along with the service you need to use it.

Big Texters: Vodafone…

which mobile plans to choose - texters

If you send upwards of twenty text messages a day, then you’re not alone. Text messaging is the most commonly used feature of mobile phone packages. And if you need to send tons of messages then you want something that comes with an unlimited text message allowance. Which is where Vodafone comes in; all of Vodafone’s plans now come with unlimited text messaging. You simply choose how many calling minutes and how much data you need, which determines the cost of your monthly plan. You can’t say fairer than that.

Big Users: T-Mobile’s The Full Monty…

If your phone is never far away from your hand, and you can’t decide whether you should go for unlimited texts, calls or data, then you need to take a look at T-Mobile’s The Full Monty plan. You get all three services, calling, texting and data, with unlimited allowances. That’s right, you can call, text and surf just as much as you want. And it all comes for a pretty fair price too. Prices on this plan look to go up soon though, so if you’re interested you’ll need to get yourself signed up. But if you just can’t put your phone down, then this is the perfect plan for you.

Users Who Want a Tailor Made Package: Orange…

The great thing about going with Orange is that you get so much flexibility. If normal plans just aren’t cutting it for you, then you’re going to want to look at Orange’s options. No matter which basic calling plan or pay as you go plan you go with, when you sign up you choose one of Orange’s animal plans. Each animal represents a different priority in your mobile service. So if you’re a data addict, for example, you’ll want to choose the Dolphin plan that gives you cheaper prices on data. The plans represent all kinds of priorities, from extra data, calling minutes and texts, to things like cheaper international calling rates and music downloading. If you’re looking for something a little special, and different from the normal calling plan, then you need to take a look at what Orange has to offer.

3 sim only deals looked really affordable to Sam Jones. He found several offers on uSwitch and other price comparison sites and realized just how much money he could save each month.
