Super Thursday October the 9th saw the launch of some enviable games on the App Store. If you still haven’t caught up with all the latest, here are some of the games worth taking a look at. There’s a sure fire entertainer for the kids in Cars: Fast as Lightning, and for the adults, there’s the unmissable Skullduggery and epic JRPG Dragon Quest II among others. Dig in!

Dragon Quest II
Square Enix is still making those dragon games and if you are a die hard fan, its time to dip into Dragon Quest II, where you explore wide open spaces as well as dark monster infested dungeons to restore peace to the kingdom. You see, you are the young prince Midenhall, descendant of the legendary warrior Erdrick who must go on a journey to find the remaining 2 heirs of the bloodline, so that together, they can defeat the fallen High priest Hargon and his demonic army. If JRPG’s are your idea of weekend fun, price be damned, you can pick up this epic title for $4.99.
Reckless Racing 3
On a completely different note, we plunge into another racing game, this time from Pixelbite, where there’s dirty racetracks and a huge collection of cars and trucks to run them over. Reckless racing 3 brings a new Gymkhana mode has you testing your skills for precise stunt driving, but you can also go easy with the 60 plus events loaded in the Career mode. For some additional fun, you can check out the Arcade mode that features 24 challenges, or the Drift mode where you score big points for your exceptional drifting skills.
And as any good racing game goes, you’ll indulge in fierce competition with other players in global leaderboards. To top it all, there is a reckless mashup of races where you will race against cars, trucks and buggies and AI drivers who will scare you off the tracks with their reckless driving. This one’s gonna cost you plenty at $4.99 with an optional IAP pack worth $0.99 thrown in as well.
ORBB
ORBB is an ethereal space puzzler where you go planet hopping to clear stars. It’s a chillaxing title where there’s no rush as you attempt to warp wormholes, get that perfect hop timing, defy gravity and collect stars in as few hops as possible. 60 levels to wind your way through but for a not-so-cool price of $2.99.

Zombie Highway 2
Auxbrain’s Zombie Highway makes a return in the second installment where the addictive mechanics of the original gets a Nitro makeover with redesigned cars and weapons, 4 new zombie types, 55 challenging objectives, and lots of cinematic action and sound effects to give you a thrill ride. You’ll even see your friends on the highway if you pass their best scores. Halloween season or not, zombies and apocalypse’s are an eternal favorite. This one is also free but includes IAPs.

Cars: Fast as Lightning
Gameloft’s latest racing extravaganza comes to you in the form of the official Disney Pixar game Cars: Fast as Lightning, where you play lively car characters Lightning McQueen and Mater who are hosting a big event. The game features excellent voice acting from the likes of Owen Wilson, funny animation cutscenes and tons of cars that you can customize, upgrade and race. Cars: Fast as Lightning is a game that the kids are surely going to love and its available for free on the App Store. (Includes IAPs though.)

Demonic Desserts
Cyclone Kick Studio’s Demonic Desserts turns everybody’s favorite treats into evil things who want to take over the world. You must attack these monsters that are creeping towards you from a colorful tile-based board. The game has a story based mode with 24 levels as well as an endless Survival mode where you can keep on fighting the monsters until they are dead or you are! The game offers 12 different power-ups and 8 exciting environments to play in. Game Center integration is available so you can compete with friends as well. Price: Free

Find the Line
Chillingo’s artistic puzzle game has you swiping on your screen to transform simple lines into works of art. There are over 200 levels of play and loads of themes ranging from animals to toys to fruits and architecture. The game has various skins that can alter the way you play the game and if you think that’s just too easy for you you can take on the Expert mode for more challenges. Find the line is free to play, but there are IAPs and annoying ads that could put you off.

Skullduggery
Clutch Play Games’ Skullduggery has you controlling a skull, who funnily enough is employed by the IRS as a collection agent to chase after those dead clients who have done to the afterlife with all their wealth and riches. There’s a lot of Angry Birds type mechanics in the game, but this is a clever platformer where you’ll be beating up bag guys, collecting gold coins, dodging obstacles, and engaging to head to head combats. its definitely a game worth adding to your games collection despite its price tag of $4.99. You might want to be wary of another game with a similar title on the App Store.
