Skype is a popular VoIP service that lets you communicate with people around the world through text, voice or video calls. Skype touts some great features but one thing that you may find missing is an integrated solution for recording calls. While you may not record every call you make, there may be times when we want to make a few. MP3 Skype Recorder is a free tool that lets you record Skype calls (voice) in a convenient manner. Let’s take a look at how this tool works.
How to Record Skype Calls
MP3 Skype Recorder is a free tool that lets you record P2P, SkypeOut calls and calls made to online numbers. The tool lets you record calls manually or automatically and store them as MP3 files. It is also capable of tracking simultaneous calls and saving them as separate files.
Installing and setting up MP3 Skype Recorder is easy. Just download the application and run the EXE file. The app will install in under a minute and the Recorder icon will be displayed in the Windows Notification area.
The app’s interface itself is pretty simple and straightforward. You have the option to turn the recorder on or off; specify where your recordings will be saved and you can opt for the recording settings such as the sample rate, bitrate and recording mode.
To start the recording process, click ON in the MP3 Skype Recorder. Open up your Skype app, select the contact you want to call and hit the Call button. A pop up will appear on the screen (at the bottom right corner of the desktop) indicating that the recording is in progress. It will display your Skype ID as well as that of your recipient.
When the call is completed, the recording will automatically conclude and the file saved in the destination folder you specified.
One thing that I did notice with MP3 Skype Recorder is that it works only with the Skype desktop client and not with the Skype Windows 8.1 app.
