How would you like to play all of the retro video games that you grew up with? How would you like to revive your old Sega Genesis, SNES, NES, or Game Boy Advance? Well now you can! If you are like me, your ears probably perked up. I might not be able to navigate through the latest Ragnarok or Pandora’s Tower, but give me some SegaGenesis and I’ll rock the house. The best part about this, other than replaying your old favorites, is the fact that all of these games can be played on one console.
Okay, I’m in. Let’s see what this is all about.
RetroN 5 Console :Going Old School Gamer Style
The RetroN 5 Console combines all of these old consoles and is able to play all of the games you have. Instead of cluttering up your living room with five or six different consoles, you could invest in one console that has the ability to replace them all. This RetroN 5 Console has six controller ports and a lot of memory so that you can save your games without having to delete files.
Another awesome thing about this console is the fact that it cleans up the graphics on the old games you play. It supports HDMI output with up to 720p resolution. Imagine playing Castlevania or Sonic the Hedgehog with such clean graphics. It will be fun for you, your family, and your friends.
9 Different Systems … And Super Famicom
In order to open this console up to international markets, the makers of the RetroN 5 Console have recently expanded it to include Super Famicom games as well. For those who are not familiar with Super Famicom, it is the Japanese version of the SNES.
This console can now play games from nine different systems. This type of development could trigger a radical change in the way that we play video games. Imagine a console in the future that can play any game from any console ever created. This is just the beginning.
Hyperkin, the makers of the RetroN 5 console, are still streamlining the console and have not yet announced a launch date. Hyperkin has also not announced a price for this console, but to be able to play all of your old favorite games is priceless in my opinion. Even if the console is initially pricey, the benefits and nostalgia far outweigh any monetary spending necessary to obtain it.
Hyperkin And its History
Hyperkin specializes in retro gaming consoles and parts. After tracking down and distributing anything from old Nintendo systems to Xboxes, they decided to combine some of the more popular systems into one console. Some of the earlier versions of this product were sold for as little as $70, but have long been out of stock. You can find some used on eBay and Amazon, but not hugely available.
Reviews were mixed on the earlier versions. Many users reported that errors were reported when they popped in their video games and that the controls didn’t work as well. The newest release is supposed to have a complete overhaul with a better computer inside for reading the software of each video game.
