If you’re in the market for a decently priced and yet good mobile phone you have plenty of choice. Although it might sometimes seem that all that’s advertised are top of the line expensive models, there are a lot of good budget cell phones out there. Of course, price is a big factor in your decision. But you can’t choose a phone based on price alone. Even phones that retail for similar costs aren’t necessarily the same. Today we’re looking at the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 and the Huawei Ascend G330. Both are very affordable devices, and are widely available through most mobile service operators. However, they’re pretty different in functionality. We put them to the test to find out exactly how they compared and what their differences are. If you want to know which phone came out on top, you’re going to have to keep reading for our recommendation.
Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 Vs. Huawei Ascend G330
What the Huawei Ascend G330 Does Well…
The Huawei has a lot going for it. It’s the faster phone, coming with a 1000 MHz processor rather than the slower 800 MHz processor on the Galaxy, making it more powerful, snappier and more responsive. It also has a larger screen, measuring in at four inches over the Galaxy’s 3.3 inch screen. Not only that, but the display is better quality, with the Ascend having two and a half times higher screen resolution and thirty per cent more PPI (pixels per inch). These two things combined make the picture on the Huawei noticeably brighter, more vivid and crisper than that on the Samsung.
The camera is also higher resolution, being a 5 MP device over the 3 MP cam on the Galaxy. This means that photos taken with the Ascend are of much higher quality and have more fine detail. Plus, the Ascend’s camera also shoots higher resolution video too. The Ascend runs Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, rather than the older 2.3 Gingerbread system on the Samsung. In general, a newer operating system version means a little more speed and more stability, with less chance of your phone freezing or crashing. Finally, the Ascend comes in around ten per cent thinner than the Galaxy.
What the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 Can Do…
Not much when compared to the Ascend, unfortunately. The Galaxy does have better Bluetooth support, coming equipped with Bluetooth 3.0 rather than the much older 1.0 version on the Huawei. If you frequently connect to hands free or other Bluetooth devices the newer system means that you get faster data transfer and that your phone uses less battery power when connecting.
The Galaxy is slightly smaller, by around ten per cent. It’s also around twenty per cent lighter than the Huawei. However, the size and weight difference come from the fact that the Samsung has a much smaller screen.
Which is the Better Bargain?
When you buy the Huawei Ascend G330 you just get more phone for your money. A bigger and better display, as well as more speed and a better camera combine to make the Ascend a much better buy than the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2.
