Despite the fact that YouTube is one of the most popular destination for video enthusiasts, numerous apps have spawned offering users a better viewing experience than YouTube. Windows 8 users are lucky to have a handful of cool YouTube viewing apps and one app in particular that impressed me was Hyper. Hyper is cool because it not only lets you view videos by signing in to your account, but also because of the fact that it lets you download stuff you like. We take a look at how Hyper can enhance your YouTube viewing experience on Windows 8.
Hyper Interface
Once you install Hyper and launch it, you are taken to the Home page that displays the most popular videos of the day and the top favorite videos of the day. The big red Hyper button at the top of the screen is actually a pull down menu that lets you sign into your account, watch your history, change and change your settings.
Once you launch a video, you can view the video options by clicking inside the screen and bringing up the menu at the bottom of the screen. The menu options include setting a repeat mode, zooming and out, adding a video to a Playlist, downloading a video, changing the video quality and volume and getting additional information about the video.
Searching for a video is pretty easy. Just use the Search charm to look for a video. You will get auto suggestions on the Search pane and the right pane will display the results in a tiled view. You can also make use of additional search filters according to relevance, video quality and such.
The viewing experience in Windows 8 is a million times better than the native YouTube website, and with options to play the video in the background, (if you wish to multitask), comment on videos you’ve seen, pin videos you subscribed to the Windows 8 Start menu, and have a live tile keeping you updated on what’s happening on your favorite channel, you are in for a wholesome video viewing experience.
The good news for Windows 8 users is that Hyper is free, supports English, Portuguese, Chinese, German, French, and Russian, and is available both Windows 8 and Windows RT devices.
