A new year has arrived and mobile game developers have been a busy lot, releasing fresh new games on the App Store and on the Play Store for us to start enjoying right away. We take a look at some of the interesting games that launched this year and are worth checking out this weekend.
Top iOS and Android Games to Play This Weekend
Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed
Sonic the hedgehog and his buddies are back with more fun racing action, this time on vehicles that transform from cars into planes and boats as the races take to the skies and waters. There’s Facebook integration and multiplayer capabilities to challenge your friends as you compete for the finish line. Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed is available on Android and iOS for $4.99.
Farm Heroes Saga
From the makers of Candy Crush Saga comes a game with a familiar tune; matching three items to grab scores or achieve set targets. This time there are cropsies or a bunch of adorable looking veggies instead of candy. There are varying objectives in each level, but the basic idea is the same. Match to score. Additional distractions come in the form of a villain, Rancid the Raccoon who is hell bent on destroying the farm. Farm Heroes Saga is downloadable for free.
Cut the Rope 2
Think you’ve had enough of Om Nom and his candy chomping antics? Think again. Because he’s back with his buddies in crazy new situations that makes this name refreshing that you want to give it another go. Read our iOS review before you dismiss this one.
On Android : coming soon
Archangel
This is a dungeon crawler that brings the heavenly Archangel down to earth to destroy the forces that disobey God. You’ll use intuitive touch and gesture controls to spew out lightning storms and teleportation capabilities and tackle the fallen ones. There’s martial arts action, spell binding moves and plenty of achievements to unlock as you play over 30 levels of action. On Android and iOS for $4.99.
Detective Grimoire
Although this one wasn’t technically released this year, it makes it to my list of must have games for the weekend. A compelling murder story and the chance to play Sherlock…err… Grimoire should be enough to tempt you to spend your hard earned $3.99 but when the game actually makes you to use the power of your attention to detail to make valuable deductions, while bringing a sense of adventure and fun, you will find it well worth your money and time.
