How to Check Data Usage from iOS 8 Notification Center

iPhone and iPad users are starting to reap the benefits of the Notification Center on their iOS 8 devices. The introduction of widgets on iOS 8 has now made it possible to do a number of things without navigating to various apps every time something needed to be checked; such as game scores or the weather report.

We previously covered 23 awesome widgets that you could add to your iOS 8 notification center to stay on top of your mobile activities. In today’s post I want to show you how you can use widgets to check data usage from iOS 8 notification center instantly.

If you have just a 16GB device, chances are, you may be worried about your CPU and memory usage. The same goes for your 3G or 4G plan. Knowing how much data you have used and how much is left will help you better manage your activities and of course there are apps to offer that information at a glance.

DataMan Next is a feature-rich app that lets you keep track of your LTE/4G/3G and Wi-Fi usage from the iOS 8 notification center. It even offers a smart forecasting feature that predicts whether you will stay within your data cap, based on your current usage stats.

It also promises real-time tracking ( without relying on your carrier) so that you view the most up-to-date statistics on your usage. Additionally the tool offers to monitor data usage on specific activities using the Stopwatch, auto reset the bill cycle and even view beyond the bill cycle usage.

How to Add Data usage Widgets to iOS 8 Notification Center

Our previous tutorial covers how to add widgets to the iOS 8 notification center. To summarize that:

1. Swipe down to view the Notification Center.

2. On the Today extension screen, scroll down and select Edit.

3. In the Today screen, in the Do Not include section, tap the + icon next to the data usage app you downloaded.

4. Tap Done at the top of the screen.

That’s it! You will now be able to instantly check data usage on your iOS 8 device without opening up the app.
