Vine made quite a splash on iOS devices when it was recently launched by Twitter. The truth is Cinemagram has been longer in the market, just exclusively on the iOS platform. With the massive interest generated by Vine, Cimemagram Inc. has woken up to the fact that video clips are in and has quickly launched its Android counterpart. In this post, we take a look at what you can do with Cinemagram.
What is Cinemagram
Cinemagram is a smartphone app that lets you create and share short 4 second videos. The videos can be looped, you can include some cool special effects, then share on Facebook and Twitter. You can also share GIFs to Tumblr and interact on posts by sharing comments, liking posts, and reposting them.
How Cinemagram Works
When you launch Cinemagram you’re taken to the homepage that lists the recent cine uploads. To engage, interact or upload your own cines, you need to have an account. Click the Get Started button and login to Cinemagram with your Facebook or Twitter credentials, or email address. Once you sign in, you can add your friends from Facebook and Twitter and set up your cine following.
The Home screen displays featured cines in timeline view, so that you can check out the latest posts first, followed by older posts as you scroll down. Click the Home button to view additional pages such as Activity, Discover and Profile. The Activity tab lists the latest cines and messages from your following ; the Discover tabs lists cines that are hot and trending while the Profile tab displays your Cinemagram profile information. There’s also a search tool where you can search other users or find cines using tags.
Creating your first Cine
Creating a 4 second cine or video recording in Cinemagram is easy. Just click the video icon button at the top right of the screen to move into the video recording area. To capture the video, just press and hold on the screen as instructed. The recording takes a few minutes to process, but once done, click Next to add additional effects.
In the next screen, you can add a variety of photo effects from the options below the screen, or click the fx button to loop, speed or mask the video. Masking is a really cool option that lets you keep certain parts of the video stationary while retaining the animation for the rest of the screen. When your done with the animation effects, click the green tick mark at the top of the screen to share your stuff with the world.
In the next screen, you have options to add a caption, include some tags, and share on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
Cimemagram : What’s Hot and What’s Not
Cinemagram is a really good looking app with lots of interesting special effects. The interface is clean and the recording process is simple and easy to use. However, the app does have its issues, video clips can only be recorded without audio; video loading is slightly slower; and force close issues and technical glitches are reported on various devices.
Since Vine is yet to make its way to the Play Store, Android users can have a bit of fun with Cinemagram. Despite its shortcomings, its still an app that works on many devices and even if you’re not ready to create your cine, you can browse through some fun clips without registering.
Cinemagram is free to download so go ahead, download it now, and tell us what you think.
