The Ribbon in PowerPoint 2010 no doubt contains almost all the commands you need to help you create and design your presentation. However, if you are new to PowerPoint 2010, or if you are not too familiar with the location of the various commands, you will need to spend time searching for the commands you need; and this can be very annoying. The Quick Access toolbar, situated at the top-left corner of the title bar, contains the most commonly used commands such as Save, Undo and Redo. However, it allows for further customization and gives you the freedom to add commands that you frequently access to it. Here’s a step-by- step account of what you need to do to make your frequently used commands easily accessible when you need it.
Add Frequently Used Commands to the Quick Access Toolbar
1. On the Quick Access toolbar, click the Customize Quick Access Toolbar drop-down arrow.
2. On the displayed list, select a command to add to the toolbar.
If the command you need is not available on the drop-down list, here’s what you need to do.
1. On the Quick Access toolbar, click the Customize Quick Access Toolbar drop-down arrow.
2. On the displayed list, select More Commands.
1. The PowerPoint Options dialog box is displayed with the Quick Access Toolbar tab in a selected state.
3. In the Choose commands from list box, select a command and click Add.
4. The command is now added to the Customize Quick Access Toolbar list box. Click OK to close the dialog box.
5. Check out the command in the Quick Access toolbar.
Note: You can add as many commands as you want to the toolbar.
Remove Commands from the Quick Access Toolbar
If your Quick Access toolbar becomes too crowded or if you no longer want a command sitting there, you can remove them in a few simple steps.
1. On the Quick Access toolbar, click the Customize Quick Access Toolbar drop-down arrow.
2. On the displayed list, select More Commands.
3. The PowerPoint Options dialog box is displayed with the Quick Access Toolbar tab in a selected state.
4. In the Customize Quick Access Toolbar list box, select a command and click Remove.
5. Click OK to close the dialog box.
6. The command will be removed from the toolbar.
