Microsoft announced three new budget Windows phones at the IFA conference in Berlin this year, the Lumia 830, Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 and with the holiday season creeping up on us, its time we took stock of possible gifts we might want to place under our Christmas tree this year, including these Windows gems. Let’s take a quick look at what Microsoft is offering us with these Lumia models.
The Lumia 830
The Lumia 830 takes pride as the thinnest (8.5mm) and lightest (150g) member of the Lumia family. The big features of this affordable Windows phone is its rear 10MP PureView camera which has ZEISS optics and optical image stabilization built in to capture perfect images any time of the day or night. You can also turn static images into living memories with the Living Images feature, experience true surround sound effects and full bandwidth stereo recording with the Rich Recording feature, get over the air updates to the Lumia Camera for speedy camera start up times and shooting speeds, and enjoy Rich Capture and Moment Capture features for amazing quality pictures.
All these great features are packed into the Lumia 830 that sports a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The Lumia 830 has a slightly curved 5-inch 720p Gorilla 3.0 glass display, and an LTE modem. It comes with 16GB of memory, which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD. Of course, you’ll also get Microsoft Office, Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim and 15GB of OneDrive storage as part of the package.

Lumia 730 Dual SIM and Lumia 735
The Lumia 730 Dual SIM and Lumia 735 are dubbed the selfie and skype master phones and are in celebration of the spirit of the modern “selfie” generation. The phones feature a wide angle full HD 5MP front camera with a focal length of 24mm which is perfect for taking group pictures or taking Skype calls. The Lumia selfie app, which comes preloaded with the phones should make those selfie captures a lot easier to take.
As far as taking calls is concerned, a single tap option will let you switch from voice calls to Skype effortlessly. Also in the package is a free 3 month subscription to Skype Unlimited World so you can make international calls on both your mobile as well as landline phones. This feature however is available only in select markets.
As far as the other specs are concerned, the devices come with a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor and a 4.7-inch OLED display and a 6.7MP rear camera . 8GB of on board memory is available but can be supplemented with a 128GB microSD card. OneDrive space of 15 GB is also available for free.
The Lumia 730 Dual SIM and Lumia 735 will be available in bright green, bright orange, dark grey and white. If it’s a fast 4G/LTE phone you are looking for, pick the Lumia 735 but if you want a 3G dual SIM option, Lumia 730 should do.

Lumia 730 and 735 in Action
The Lumia 830, the Lumia 735 and the Lumia 730 should be available in stores later this month at $440, $290 and $260, respectively.
