Wake Up and Take a Selfie with Snap me Up Alarm App

May 13, 2015

Waking up in the morning at a specific time is one of the hardest things to do. That’s why even our smartphones come equipped with an alarm app. Since a snooze button is usually a convenient excuse to catch a few winks more…we have apps that ensure we wake up when we have to – by tasking us with activities like solving a puzzle or getting up and spinning around.

Michael Fabozzi, the creative mind behind the cool app Snap me Up offers a much better way to wake up and stay awake. His idea is to make the alarm app ring until you have taken a selfie. Never thought of that one before?

Snap me Up Tutorial

Snap me Up is available on Google Play for free, so there’s no excuse not to pick it up. Once you download and launch the app, a tutorial wizard will show you how the app works.

The main app interface has a lovely cyan color scheme. The menu bar at the top left of the screen reveals the history of your alarms, settings, and other related app info.

At the top right of the screen is the Sleep Gallery icon where you can access all your “just-woke-up” selfies.

At the bottom of the screen is a red button with a + sign. You’ll need to tap this button to create your first alarm.

You can give your alarm a name, provide a ringtone, choose the days you want the alarm to be active, select a wake up method (normal or snap) and even add a color scheme for that particular alarm. When that’s done tap the red button with a tick mark and you’re all set.

At the set time, your app will wake you up and the only way to turn it off will be to turn on the lights and take a selfie.

Typical to setting alarms, you can also set timers by selecting the Take a nap button. Here you have options to set the duration of the nap, a wake up method and a color scheme.

Snap me Up Likes and Dislikes

Snap me Up is definitely one of the better creative ideas we’ve seen as far as alarm apps go. Its definitely one that youngsters will enjoy using and is sure to bring out a lot of smiles when you look back at your history of sleepy snaps.

I Like

  • Clean uncluttered interface with minimum controls.
  • Beautiful color schemes
  • Displays a nice morning message when you’re ready to take a snap.
  • Nice little gallery to store your sleepy snaps. You can look into this gallery when you’re in a grumpy mood and it will sure lighten things up.
  • You can share your sleephead pics with your friends.
  • Very easy to manage alarms.

I Hate

  • Too many ads. Don’t be surprised if you click an ad in your sleepy state of mind 🙂
  • No snooze. You can take a selfie and go right back to sleep with no more disturbances.

Final Thoughts

If you use your smartphone alarm to get up every morning, Snap me Up is an app you simply must check out. It takes the tediousness out of waking up and gives you a good enough excuse to start your day with a big smile.
