Several years ago time of smartphones and tablets began. Today it is almost impossible to imagine our life without email, game, social media applications. Every day thousands of new smartphones are activated. The market is expanding. And the war between main “types” of phones – Android and iOS – is becoming more and more severe. Lets take a look at some of the advantages the Android has over the iOS and what makes the Android better than iOS.
As you know the very first smartphone was released by Apple and it ran iOS. Google developed its Android OS later, but the company made it an open source system what has led to the fast widespread of the Android phones produced by different hardware manufacturers like HTC, Motorola, ZTE, Samsung and others. Even though the mobile operation systems are alike in their essence and in main functions they provide, there are some features that make one OS different from the other.
So what features make Android better than iOS?
As it was said, Google made its mobile operation system open and available for different manufacturers and thanks to it, there customers have an opportunity to choose among the wide variety of phones having different screen sizes, storage, processors, prices etc. while the OS remains the same. iOS and iPhone development is under a total Apple control. On the one hand, it is a way to build a brand, but on the other hand it limits the market. Besides, at the very beginning Apple even didn’t allow installation of third-party apps. Fortunately, this policy was changed.
Besides, Android smartphones give the users an opportunity to expand the memory. Of course, the standard memory packages are becoming bigger and bigger, but the amount of the information that has been stored in the smartphones is increasing as well. And removable Micro SD cards solve this problem perfectly.
If to speak about mobile applications, Android market has a bit, (just a bit!), smaller number of apps available, but Android OS in general is more flexible in terms of personal customization of home screen, general layout and even default apps. There are lots of different widgets and customization apps that can make your smartphone unique. And even though Android phones are sold with a full range of pre-installed app, you may download and choose any applications (browser, email client, etc) to be a default one.
Another thing that should be mentioned is that Android, being developed by Google, has the whole build-in package of Google instruments for navigation and socializing like Google Maps, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Plus and others. And Android users don’t have to sync all the data they enter as it is done automatically, of course, if you want it to be so.
Nevertheless, it would be dishonest to say that iOS is a bad mobile operation system and if you are going to buy a smartphone you must choose only an Android one. iOS can also boast of some very important features that Android lack, especially what concerns the security. But Android system is being improved and new and new innovative solutions are implemented there. And that’s why in this case, a cheaper phone (read as an Android phone) doesn’t mean a worse phone.
