360 Security – Antivirus Boost Android App Review

February 14, 2015

Malware is a scourge not just on desktop platforms but also on Android smartphones and tablets. Thankfully there are a number of antivirus apps for Android that have grown in number and features to take on the menace of malware. One such app in question is 360 Security – Antivirus Boost and today, we take the app for a spin to see how it helps protect and secure your Android device.

360 Security - Antivirus Boost

360 Security – Antivirus boost is an extremely user friendly app that performs three intelligent functions; memory boost, cleaning of junk files, and virus scanning and repair. Once you download and install the free app, you will notice a neat, clean interface with three tabs, Boost, Clean, and Antivirus.

The Boost page displays a circular diagram, which indicates how much of memory can be cleared. One tap of the Boost button will clear up the processes that are clogging your phone, making it run smoother. It will also indicate how much of battery life was saved in the process.

Swiping to the left will take you to the Clean tab where you can see at a glance how much storage is remaining on your phone and external SD. You can tap the Scan button to clean junk files and cache and free up storage space on your device.

The final tab houses the Antivirus feature that scans your device and indicates if it is secure and if there are vulnerabilities. If issues are found, a single tap will delete all viruses, malware, and Trojans, and patch system vulnerabilities to protect your privacy and personal data. 360 Security runs on the proprietary QVS artificial intelligence engine, which boasts a 99.7% success rate.

Apart from its three main functionalities, 360 Security – Antivirus Boost also offers a host of additional functionality you’ll find handy, such as Find My Phone, App Manager, Privacy, Call & SMS Filter and Data Monitor. The Find My Phone is activated using your Google account. The App manager lets you manage installed apps, APK files and transfer files from your phone to SD storage.

The Privacy feature lets you encrypt important text messages to prevent others from viewing your communication. The Call & SMS Filter lets you blacklist contacts and displays the level of spam you receive. Data Monitor lets you set the limits of your data plan so you never end up crossing the limits. You can also choose which apps use your data plan and which ones should run on WiFi.

The Statistics page will indicate which apps are using most of your data so you have better control over how to manage large data consuming apps. Another handy feature of the app is anti theft protection, but you'll need to configure the options in the web interface at http://findphone.360safe.com

360 Security – Antivirus Boost has some useful settings that you can rely on to get the best protection for your device. You can make use of its floating widget for quick access to its important functions and can set weekly reminders to clean up your device. You will also enjoy using the Clean and Shake service of the app, which only needs to you shake your device for cleanup to happen.

There was just one aspect of the app that I did not like: the three icons that showed up on my homepage on installation, although that's not a serious flaw, by any means.

Overall, I found 360 Security – Antivirus Boost to be a user friendly app with an intuitive interface and useful features that could be a big boost to your Android device. If you are on the lookout for a handy app to take care of all your security, virus, app management and device management issues, be sure to check out 360 Security – Antivirus Boost and give us your feedback.
