Cometdocs has always been a handy online document management system for anyone looking to use the cloud for more than just storage. In our previous review of Cometdocs we showed you some of its handy features and how you could benefit from them for FREE. In today's post, we take a look at the CometDocs PDF Converter Chrome extension that complements this powerful management system and makes it so much more intuitive to convert documents into different file formats.
Cometdocs PDF Converter in Action
Once you install Cometdocs PDF Converter on your Chrome browser, you'll find the app icon added to your Chrome Apps screen. Click the icon to go to the website where you can convert, transfer, store, and host files.
The next thing to do is upload a file to Cometdocs. This can be done by uploading from your desktop, dragging from the desktop to the upload area or importing from Google Drive or Dropbox. Once the file is uploaded, you can perform a number of actions on the file.
To convert an uploaded file into a different file format, drag the file from the upload section to the Convert box below. Then, select a file format to convert to. If you haven't registered for a free account, you will need to input an email address to receive the converted document. Then click Convert. The conversion process will usually take a few minutes, depending on the size of your file and the current server traffic.
To transfer files or converted files to other recipients, drag the uploaded file to the Transfer box below, add a recipient email address and a message and click Transfer. If you are a registered user, your email address will automatically be added to the Sender section. If not, you must include that information so you can get confirmation once the document is transferred. Hit Transfer to complete the task.
If you are a registered user, all documents uploaded and worked upon are moved to the Storage area, where you can quickly access them and perform a number of further actions as well, such as convert, preview, share, view revisions or move them. Non registered users cannot access the Storage section. All their files and links will only be available for 24 hours, then deleted from the servers.
You can also host documents anonymously using a public link, which will be available for 24 hours if you are not a registered user.
