Podcasts are quite popular, and there are many people who actively listen to them or watch them. If you are not quite sure what a podcast is, it is an audio or video file that is distributed to followers who are interested in your content. They are also in series, much like a television show. Podcasts can be as creative as your imagination can reach; they might be short comedy clips, interviews with individuals in a certain cause or organization, personal audio or video blogs, or simply news podcasts. Starting your own podcast can seem to be a daunting task, but it is not as difficult as one may think. In this post, I’ll share with you some guidelines to create a podcast quickly and easily.
Guidelines to Create a Podcast Quickly and Easily
Choosing Your Podcast
The first step in creating a podcast is to decide what you want your podcast to be about. You could host a conference call with a small group of people, and discuss relevant news and information that would pertain to a particular group of individuals.
You could also create your podcast as a devotion to a particular hobby, making small music clips regarding certain interests or even video clips for a video podcast. You should be sure that you are dedicating your podcast to something that you love to do, or something that you have extensive knowledge in. If you are not truly interested in your podcast, then your podcast will most likely fail.
If successful, you could soon have hundreds, if not thousands, of active listeners, viewers, and followers. You should also have an outline of several podcasts to come, so that you are not stumped for your next episode or show. Be sure to involve viewer or listener participation, as this will create more loyal followers who can directly relate to you.
Capturing and Releasing Your Podcast
To make it as simple as possible, you need three main things for a podcast:
- your audio or video file for the podcast,
- a place that would host your file; and
- a feed for syndication.
After you have developed your podcast, it needs to be uploaded to a host online, so that followers and listeners can easily download your podcast. Feed syndication allows for your podcasts to be discovered by new listeners, as your listeners are the backbone of your podcasts. Without your listeners, your podcasts would not do you much good.
As you become adjusted to your podcasts and they begin to flow naturally, you should begin to release your podcast to as many feed sites as possible. People are always visiting these sites for new and interesting podcasts to listen to or watch. Your excitement will grow with your number of followers, and so will your popularity among your growing fan base.
Never slack on your podcasts, as this can result in failure. Keep working hard to keep the interest of your followers, so that you may become heard across the world by many instead of the few. There are many extremely popular podcast hosts out there today, and with practice, time, and effort, you can easily join their ranks.
