How to Double the Speed of your PC with Optimization & Computer Support

February 6, 2013

One of the most frustrating aspects about owning a PC is that over time you PC can become bogged down and it can be incredibly frustrating with how slow it may become. Working on a slow PC can be extremely difficult to accomplish your tasks at hand when your computer is as slow as molasses. The steps outlined in this post can help you optimize and even possibly double the speed of your PC processing.

How to Double the Speed of your PC

How to Double the Speed of your PC

Run Check Disk

This is a very easy process that can help to optimize the speed of your computer. Each time you visit a website there are files that are downloaded to your computer in order to load the pages much faster. The only problem is that you do not visit webpage repeatedly, so there is no reason that you should keep all of those files on your computer slowing it down. When you choose to run check disk it will scan your computer for unwanted files, delete unnecessary files, and clean or organize all the remaining files. It is not a bad idea to run this often in order to ensure that your PC is running at optimum speed.

Delete Search History

This is not just a great way to help avoid have others see your embarrassing searches, but it is a great way to help to optimize the speed of your computer. Every time that you visit a website the link for the site is stored in your history bank. This is organized by date. You can open your history page, and it can go all the way back to when you started using the computer. This can add a lot of files to your computer that are not necessary. Delete your history often in order to avoid storing months or years of unnecessary files.

Defragment Your Files

A lot of people do not realize the purpose for defragmenting their computer files. The fact is that when you download a file to your computer it is placed in a specific section of your computer, but when you download updates to those programs they are stored in a completely different place. This means that your file has to go all over your computer in order to be able to open the program. This can greatly decrease the productivity and speed of your computer.

Defragmenting these files means that it will take the little bits and pieces of the files that have been spread across your computer, combine them back into a single file, and therefore make a single location for your computer to search in order to opening the program. If you are fortunate enough to have a computer that is up to date with the current Windows 8 OS, Windows 7, or even Windows Vista than your computer is automatically setup to defragment your files on a weekly basis. Any older Windows OS can be easily defragmented by simply selecting the option from the system tools section under the accessories tab.

One of the biggest things to avoid is downloading unnecessary files to your computer. If you are thinking about downloading a program make sure that it is a safe or highly rated program. Also make sure to check your computer often for viruses, spyware, malware, and any other files that could cause harm to your computer. Keeping a clean computer is extremely important not just to the speed of the computer, but for the health and longevity of the life of the computer.
